Interesting places to fly during hour building?
As some will have already seen, I am planning my hours buidling trip in the States during the first few weeks of April.
Any ideas/suggestions of interesting places to fly to? Websites? I am renting an aircraft in Miami - however, I don't want to limit my flying only in Florida. I was planning on flying up the coast to the New York area and then heading inland some way before making my way back to FL.
Also, ideas for cheap overnight accommdation. Motels are the way forward, I guess? I see that some of the larger FBOs have crew "rest/snooze" areas. Is it cheeky to crash in these some nights to try to save on some cash?!
Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Cedar Keys
Go to Cedar Keys, FLorida. A tiny airport like in the gulf of mexico..thats nice. Fun place for a night or two too. No parking fee but no refueling too. But a nice lady comes pick u up in her cab..charges $10 for both ways and she can talk to u on the unicom.
Else depending, maybe head out to Bahamas. Not sure of other places. I did fly to pretty much all the airports in Florida.
The fancier the FBO the more expensive fuel, or they charge you fees to use their crib. Better to stick to the airports which are a bit dinky or something like that if you want to save on cash. Boca Raton is expensive but they give you car to drive around town. But charge of avgas was $1 more then other places.

hour building
if you need someone along for the ride, I live in Miami, and have done some flying around the area.
I also need to do some hour building prior to my CPL in July. Where are you looking at getting aircraft from in Miami ?

Key West - the southernmost point of continental North America.
Key West itself is an interesting and fun place (night-stop next time) and the scenery en route is spectacular.
If you're interested, more info and some pictures here: http://www.pprune.org/private-flying...g-florida.html

There are cool things to see out west too. If you make it to Arizona, you can fly to Fort Huachuca and there are predator UAVs flying there. Also, you can fly by the grand canyon, Sedona arizona has dramatic scenery coming into the airport, and if you fly from Tucson to Gila Bend at night on a weekday, there's a chance that you can see fighter planes in the restricted area doing lights out training, only recognizable by the flares they eject.

Good luck and enjoy yourself.
I can't recommend anywhere as I haven't been yet, but am interested in Florida and Arizona.
Who are you renting from? I would be glad to take recommendations.

I would recommend that you don't go North but West.
Miami-Las Vegas-Miami will take about 45 hrs in the usual 160 HP SE.
veer off a little to the North on the way back and go to Memphis and Nashville.
In Texas go to San Antonio, El Paso, Houston, Galveston.
Nice aviation museum in Galveston.
In Louisiana go to New Orleans Lakefront.
Mobile , Alabama.
Pensacola, Florida
Kissimee, Florida "Wild Stallion" Mustang place with P-51's.
