Skills Test for FAA - JAA Conversion - Anyone gone through it?
Hello,
In three weeks I sit in the Dash 8 sim in Oslo and FINALLY finish my FAA - JAA ATPL conversion.
Would love any advice on what happens during a skills test - I've read the CAA required maneuvers doc but I'm wondering how the examiners handle the failures (hopefully I won't have any doovers!)
Love to hear your stories!
Thanks,
Donna

Have you taken your 170A? Or some sort of similar mock test? Your school should organise one for you.

What about the base check (takeoffs and landings in the actual aircraft)?

BillieBob is right - I have over 1200 hours as Capt in the Dash 8 and a type on my FAA license. CAA referred to it as a type transfer.
The only sim checks have been with my former company so I'm curious as to how it works here - but probably not much different and probably depends on the examiner.

Donnabryan, my husband did the Skills Test in the sim observed by the CAA thing to get his ATPL.
Expect a full "LST". Licence Skills Test. The usual "LPC" sort of stuff. Holding pattern, ILS, Non Precision approaches, single approach, go-rounds and the like.
When I did mine in the real a/c I had to do limited panel, timed turns, unusual attitudes and other such fun + the above. Not so much fun...

Did ICAO to JAA earlier this year with UK CAA
Very formal brief!
It was a flight from A to B then back to A and of course never got there
It began at the gate, cockpit prep, cabin prep, start, push, taxi, departure (know your taxi way lights! was cleared to Holding point "A" then got the red line before I got there!)Departure SID, malfunctions enroute, enroute hold, STAR, 2 engine ILS, ! engine ILS, Non Precision, Raw Data in there somewhere, SE G/A (if you're using a Q-400 watch the trim changes!) Ice etc oh yes and a main brake failure...sneaky
Type change worked, get a letter from your present Company confirming you work/worked there and flew the Dash-8. No circuits required Dash-8 type multi crew IR
PM for more accurate details.
Good luck
