Gen Nav Exam Result August ZERO ?
Anyone else get the rather impossible to achieve pass mark of zero for the recent August sitting ? Evem answering randomly without any study would get a better mark than that
I passed 2 others but CAA are investigating why I was posted a 0 result for GNAV, they mentioned that they were aware of others in this situation and were looking into why and it would be a day or 2 before they can advise me. I know that you must sign the forms and put your booking ref number etc but I am sure that I did that.
Just interested to know if anyone else is in a similar predicament ?
Just wondered if the CAA computer has thrown a wobbly ?

My flying partner had same issue but not 0%. He scored 30% and could not believe that score. The school challenged it and the computer did have a wobbly. The score should have been 92%. I have heard of this several times and when doing ATPL's, once checked by the CAA it confirms the computer had a moment of madness.

ahh it makes you feel good doesnt it that we pay so much for the exam fee, only to have a computer mark it and no one question or double check the strange results that the computers throw out
It could have been for a number of reasons, people have put the wrong exam number on the answer paper, invigilators put the wrong exam number on paper (then everyone would be getting 0), did you skip a question and then not put the answers in correct boxes?
Even then sounds like a computer as even guessing you would get some of the answers right.

I do think that at £60 plus pounds per exam it isn't asking too much to put the exam number and candidate number on the paper in advance and if I am sitting there with my passport then forget about signatures...or would that not generate as much money ??
I know I am a cynic but it does appear to be the most unnecessarily tedious and difficult set of exams which generate a great cash income. Surely CAA must consider it time to modernise this archaic process and allow PC login and instant results as well as sit any exam in any sequence when you are ready.
Job losses perhaps but a much slicker and fairer system.

CAA will be coming with PC instant system, but it is a large investment, but during my exams the CAA employee told us that these plans where in place, probably when EASA take over. Doubt the exams will be any cheaper, but at least you will have your exam results the same day.

The last time one of our students got zero was when he put the answers on the question paper instead of the answer paper. 30% is usually when you get your name wrong.

Don't expect things to get any better in the near future - the last specialist ground examiner has recently left the Belgrano and is not being replaced. The UK CAA seem to be hell-bent on getting rid of all of their experienced people, which might explain why the transition to EASA is turning into such a farce.

I have been advised by UK CAA that there appears to be an error and they will endeavour to provide me with a proper score by the end of the week...
They appear to be trotting out the usual non customer focused usual excuses about not top priority and workload is very high, best endeavours etc

Not that bad but still a fail at 71%
They have 4 staff looking after all exam venues and candidates and a pretty naff old fashioned (but state of the ARK circa 1970) OCR marking system
Roll on computerised testing but for now it's a resit for me on Gen Nav blast it !

Note though that the CAA is NOT listed on the National Database of Accredited Qualifications. Any qualifying body worth anything whatsoever is listed on the NDAQ. Then again, maybe they wish to remain outside the regulatory authority of any external body and be self-regulating.

I studied for two and a half months solid , drove 4.5 hours to Bristol , studied hard there and drove 4.5 hours back. Then drove 2.5 hours to Shuttleworth for my first exam all in all costing a fortune only to find no cover sheet on my table , the invigilator holding the question paper up to go through it and not being aware he had walked past me without giving me a question sheet (Im on the front row) and then the handwritten answer sheet had my name filled in by them and spelt incorrectly by having two letters replaced by random ones, this happened 3 days out of 5 , it was a farce and for this i had the dubious honour of having to pay them £66.....................:
PS guy on my course also got 15% for Rad Nav in March , when questioned it turned out to be 86% results allegedly send 3 times by post and not received , was faxed the fourth time no problem !

I cannot understand why I had to drive 100 miles on 3 consecutive days to sit 4 exams at very specific times and then drive home to wait 2 weeks for the results (x 2)
Exam team of 4 tell me they are extremely busy and I am not surprised
Online testing using Lasergrade or similar organisation would deliver a revolution of efficiency.
I suspect that everyone puts up with this as well as the incorrect and often contradictory official exam answers because the minute they have the last pass in the bag it is all forgotten. I am really surprised at the poor quality of the exam questions and some of the really naff things that we are expected to memorise. Not very professional ! It often appears to be an exam to see how much sh@!t you are willing to put up with.
Anyway battle resumes in September and hoping to get my life back by Christmas, good luck to all those of you who are enduring this as well.
