How long time takes the CAA

For the issue of the CPL(A)?

I've sent yesterday the documents for the grant of the licence such as the forms to request it, skill test report form, logbook and original licences and a copy of my passport(I called them and the operator told me that they want the copy). Today I've discovered that they need of the original passport! It seems so strange

Any experiences with the CAA for this issue?!?

Well it took probably more than 3 weeks for my PPL to come through. They didn't think I had achieved enough solo cross-country time. Wrote them a big letter with copies of my student records covered in highlighter fluid. Eventually it came through my door but I was very annoyed at the wait.

They say the processing time is about 10 days once the documents are with the Personnel Licensing Department (PLD)

I believe they do a same service with PPL as long as you drop in the paperwork by in the morning worst case collect next day BUT not sure if they do that with CPL

The CAA will NOT issue an "INITIAL" CPL or IR on the day like they do with other ratings and quals . You have to endure the wait im afraid

They will issue a rating like a IR on the day, they did it for me this year.

However when applying for a license they take a few days to process it.

I stand corrected , think it was cos I applied for cpl/ir at same time thats why they wouldnt cheers T100

My CPL was issued in under 2 weeks.

iv) Evidence of Identity
• Original Passport or Birth Certificate as Evidence of Identity (certified copies by the UK training provider are acceptable).
Please note:- Existing holders of a UK Professional Flight Crew Licence or holders of any UK-JAR-FCL Pilot licence can ignore this
requirement

Do you already have a JAA PPL? If so the passport is not required. If you got any other ICAO PPL before doing your CPL, then it is. Either way, you don't need to send them the original document.

I'm disappointed that not one person has bothered to check the CAA website which states that they are currently processing applications as follows:

Just for information, I've sent just today my passport tomorrow they will have it!
I'm so nervous because the next month I need of my passport for travel out of the EU! mmmmmm!!!!! Maybe I'll go there and get it!!!

Just out of curiosity, in Europe and the UK if you don't get your license right away, do they give you a termporary license like you get one in the USA so you can exercise your privileges right away?

Do they bollocks.... that would be far too sensible and customer-focused for the CAA.
