Seaplane Rating and CPL in Canada

Does anyone know of any well respected and proven flight schools in Canada that offer Multi-Engine/Multi-Crew Seaplane PPL/CPL training.

Information online is flakey at best.

Regards

Various places in BC: Fort Langley (I think ... but the old guy might have died recently), Pitt Meadows, Victoria, Nanaimo.

I googled "float rating" and they all came up. If not then try asking around on AVCANADA • Index page

Normally people do the CPL on a land plane and add the float rating from there.

Pro-Ifr in Boundary bay Vancouver has a good reputation for CPL. Add the float rating after, or do your PPL then Float and hrs build on a float plane. Pro-IFR have been around for a long time. Call and see what they suggest.

For what it's worth, I did a bit of research into this this type affair recently. Basically, I was weighing up the pro's and con's of doing the Seaplane rating here in the UK vs. Canada. I can't help you with the CPL as I did mine in the UK but I've provided a link to the FCL requirements which could be of assistance.

Here's what I have:

Ocean Air
Seaplane Training Float Plane training and Charters in Victoria, BC, Canada
Various packages on offer
50 hour pro course $12995 CAD
7 hour basic course $1995 CAD
15 hour proficiency course $4995CAD

Fort Langley Air
Fort Langley Air Float Plane Training Rating Charters Sightseeing Seaplane Endorsement Vancouver BC
More specifically, Fort Langley Air Float Training
Slightly more expensive but at least provides a detailed breakdown of what the various individual costs are.
Unsure as to the comment above re: the person in charge no longer being around?

FCL requirements
Flight Crew Licensing - Foreign Applicants

Just remember to budget accordingly - hardly any training ever goes according to exact plans, try build in a safety net of 10% at least.

I got all of the above from searching online - can't see why you're saying it's hard to come by and/or flakey?

Whatever happens, good luck with your choice.

Hi, you might also check out Island Coastal for the float training, based on Vancouver Island. Their 50hr course is CAD$11,750 + 5%Tax. 50hrs of course being the minimum hours you need for any company to hire you, for insurance purposes.

Floatplane Training Canada / Mountain & Bush Pilot Training at Island Coastal Aviation Inc - in Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, BC, Canada - Seaplane Courses

Also, if your interested in getting a head start converting your licences to Canadian ones check out PilotTraining.ca : Learn to Fly! : PilotTraining.ca for the thoery side of the process.

Best of luck.

Looks like a cheaper way to fly whilst having alot of fun.
