License Issue.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before, basically I have just finished everything I need to get a Frozen ATPL. But only have about 4 weeks until my CPL skills test expires, so I am concerned the CAA will take too long over it and ill end up having to redo the CPL again, so just wondered if anyone knew whether you were still able to go up to Gatwick with your paperwork to get your license issued? Or have they stopped letting you do this?

If they do, do you have to ring up beforehand etc? or just show up? Any day?

The timescales are all to apply for your licence, as long as you apply in time there should not be a problem. You cannot get a licence issued over the counter but you can submit your application over the counter. Given you short timerframe that's what I'd do and do it soon.

Take all your stuff to them if you can. They won't do it any quicker than the 10 working days or what ever they say it is, but at least you will know it is there and you have gained a day over posting it.

I had a minor problem with my issue too, they sent me everything back through the post, (on the very last day they state) and with-in 2 hours I was back in their office with the required paperwork (that I'd offered them when I first dropped it off but they didn't take ). They then issued my license for me that day whilst I waited.

Think of it this way, whats cheaper ?. Driving it to LGW (or even using a same day courier service if you can't drive yourself) or having to re-do the CPL ?.
