Indie Flight Training and the Great Adventure

There is a very structured route to a professional flying career now available, given the magnitude of the scheduled air transport industry and the maturity of the commercial (and commercialised) training pipeling developed over the decades.

But, for the moment, there is still an alternative route. One that allows an individual to achieve an identical qualification by a more flexible, modular route. With the inevitable development and dominance of the MPL (a true 'arline' license) this may close in the future.

My question is, "what was your route to professional flying"? If you've taken a varied and interesting path, please share a little of it here.

I for one am very interested to hear it.
