A few questions.

Hi,

I have the following two doubts on Mass & Balance and Meteorology.

Q1) For flight planning purposes the landing mass at alternate is taken as:
1) Landing Mass at destination plus Alternate Fuel
2) Zero Fuel Mass plus Final Reserve Fuel and Contingency Fuel
3) Zero Fuel Mass plus Final Reserve Fuel
4) Zero Fuel Mass plus Final Reserve Fuel and Alternate Fuel

Q2) Given:
Dry operating mass (DOM) = 33000 kg
Load = 8110 kg
Final reserve fuel = 983 kg
Alternate fuel = 1100 kg
Contingency fuel = 102 kg
The estimated landing mass at alternate should be:

1) 42195 kg
2) 42210 kg
3) 41110 kg
4) 42312 kg

I'm confused on the previous two questions in that if in Q1 3 is correct, then Q2 must be: 33000 + 8110 + 983 = 42'093kg. Now if in Q1 the answer would be 2 then Q2 would be: 33000 + 8110 + 983 + 102 = 42'195kg. I have checked both answers in a few QBs and both say the same answers. Am I missing something?

Q3) (Refer to figure 10-1)

In the vicinity of Paris (N49 E003), the tropopause is at approximately:

1) FL350
2) FL340

3) FL400
4) FL380

In the question above another QB says 4. In the Flight Planning and Monitoring QB there are many questions like Q3. What is the correct way of finding the height of the tropopause? Is it the closest box or the average?

Thanks.
