Saab 340 rating including 100hrs line training

Hello!

I've got an offer of buying 340 rating including 100hours of line training with a salary (I guess it's quite low). The rating is done through a school in Sweden and the line training is done through a Polish company in Poland.

I live in Sweden and know in addition to Swedish, even Polish and for me, this offer sounds interesting. I see this as a opportunity to get an employment after the line training. I've talked with both the school and the company about job guarantees but they can't promise anything. The school told me however that the chances are quite high because I know the language.

I'm a low timer pilot and have been unemployed for 8 months now. I'm afraid that the company will close the doors for an employment after the line training is done if I choose to take this offer. I feels that if the worst will happens, I'll be back on step 1 and will not be able to take another loan for a another rating.

It's impossible to know what decision is right, only the future can provide it.But is it worth the risk?

What would you do? How is the market for Saab 340 rated pilots? How much is a Saab T/R worth with 100hours?

how much does it cost and which school/airline is it with?

I may have been in contact with the same company and took the deal. However, no line training so far yet even though I finished my t/r a couple of months ago. PM me if you want personal info.

I can't believe this question keeps coming up.

You must be able to see that it's not a genuine deal. Once they have your money, it's game over.

Ask yourselves, with all the unemployed pilots out there, why can they not hire first officers from the experienced market? Answer: They don't want to - beacuse they would have to pay them.

*YOU* give them money to do a type rating - you then may or may not receive line training (see above).

Whatever experience you buy yourselves by paying your own salary, once you have the agreed time - they replace you with somebody else who wants to pay them for flying.

Why on Earth WOULD the company offer to pay *you* to work for them? WHY?

What about all the other guys who paid for time before you? Do they have jobs with the company? If so, why do they need to offer anybody else the "chance of a job after training" ?

given that there are only 300 odd operational 340's,.. most of which are in Oz our US, why on earth would anyone in the EU consider this as a good deal???

Deal or no deal?...no deal...no way no how!!

Well I would suggest it is worth a lot less than what they expect you to pay for it...and is therefore not money well spent.

You don't mention how much money is being asked, but if it helps you make a judgement then information on PPJN from Loganair, a UK 340 operator, suggests that they charge new FOs £8500 plus VAT for the type rating. How does that compare?

So keep your money and stay current if you can....why not spend a little of it on something fun like an aerobatic or tailwheel rating while you wait. Keeps the logbook moving forward as well.

If everyone would refuse to become involved in these scams they would quickly die. Unfortunately in these difficult times there is always someone, and often they end up regretting it.

PPJN is a little out of date. Logie currently charge £12k for self sponsored Saab 340 ratings. The company then pay it back to you over a 3 year bond.
The latest recruitment info about them on PPJN is bang up to date though - overcrewed on the saab fleet.
