Had a quick look at cabair's webstie and their price structure for integrate course is gone!
Do anybody knows what is going on?

Do you really think a price rise for the least expensive Integrated course is going to discourage those who have already decided to go against the very strong advise here on Pprune to wait and/or go Modular? Cabair would be stupid to lower prices and accept lower margins during shrinking enrollment. It would only accelerate them towards bankruptcy. I think they will raise prices. If they lower them, I sure wouldn't pay them much in advance given the current rumours that they might go to the wall because price cuts will only accelerate their failure. Prospective students should also consider that if they start an Integrated course and their FTO goes to the wall, they may end up having to transfer to another Integrated FTO. I suppose if you had all 14 exam passes, you could probably get CAA approval to earn a PPL so as to keep the exam results and then proceed via Modular if you have the money to. It could be messy if you had a few exam passes and they folded on you.

I doubt that, or it really will be the nail in the coffin. Along with a tax reduction and potentially a fall in demand due to lack of financing options, the price will have to come down.

Andy did you go through the flybe sponsorship selection process?

Also why offer the same course in two places for two different prices??

Is one better than the other? There is a difference of about £8000 between the two, are they trying to phase out the Spain option?

53k to train in the states! Are you having a laugh! You could do all of your training for less than $53k never mind £53k!

You only do basic flight training in the states. Your only there for 3 months.

may just be a way to provide a cheaper integrated scheme under the cabair name i reckon... Im not a business expert but there must be a reason behind the extra option that would not mean phasing out spain altogether.

Cabair has just recently opened at requenna, moving from valencia INTL so i dont think they would be that quick to move out just yet!

What do you guys reckon if couple of thousand pounds is a no concern object. Would you go for Spain or USA?
For me I personally think Spain would be the best choice because you don't have to train an extra type of an aircraft, Cessna 172. I think 3 aircrafts are maximum for integrated course. Any suggestions??

Well here are some of the pros that I can pick out with the Spanish option:

- You are allocated more twin time in the DA42 FNPT II Simulator in exchange for 10 hours taken off your single engine flying.

- All your training is conducted within JAA airspace

- You'll fly 3 types of aircraft (as opposed to 4)

- No hassle of needing to meet JAA and FAR requirements with medicals/solo flights etc

- No M1 Visa interviews

- Flights to Spain are short, quick, and relatively cheap compared to flying across the pond.

The cons:

- It's around 8,000 pounds more expensive
- Living expenses in Spain will probably cost more

Hi Lads,

As Mike has already highlighted - Cabair EU is more expensive but less hassle however due to the current position of the market I think you need to save every penny as in the end you might need to T/R yourself (Easy jet etc...) and what a shameful thing to waste 10,000 Pounds in Spain just because you like the scenery ;-)

The America/Spain portion does not dominate the course therefore I think you can live a month or two in the US.

As far as actual flying hours are concerned, most of your flying is done out in Spain/USA

The Pound has fallen against both the Euro and the Dollar. Those who hope for price drops are fantasizing considering that Cabair collects their fees in Pounds and pays their bills in Euros and Dollars. The option to pay 75,000 Euros might be attractive to any students they get from Euro countries, but wouldn't all UK training be even more attractive to these ones given how cheap Pounds are to them? They could even absorb significant weather delays and be better off. UK Modular ought to be looking pretty good to continentals.
