Need advice for flight school in AU or NZ..

Hello all,

I am currently 27 years old and being a pilot has always been my dream. And recently, I finally decided that I will go after this dream!

I am thinking of getting my PPL first. I am very likely to choose between Melbourne Flight Training, and Basair. I am wondering how would you guys choose between these two schools? Which one would you recommend?

I am also considering to learn in NZ...anyone have good experience there?

Thank you very much in advance!

Definitely go to Melbourne over Sydney - its a far better environment around Moorabbin than Bansktown. Cheaper to live, too.

Look into the other options on the field than just that one school - but that one is pretty good.

If you do decide to go to Melbourne, PM me and I'll give you the details of a pilot house, cheap rent, fully furnished, right next to the airport.

Hey,

I had a similar problem trying to decided where to go and train, There is a company called Flying Aviation and they run an advisory service.

They are independant and helped me choose and understand exactly what I needed to do and buy. Things like the pro's and con's to going abroad etc. you do have to pay but it was worth the £££.
They also gave me a discount on flying equipment because I used their advisory service.

Thanks for all the replies!

Lasiorhinus - I definitely would love to know more about the housing

stealth101 - Could you please give me more detail about the company you mentioned?

LocoDriver - Will try to post it on the AU/NZ section. Thanks for the tip

mr.tos - So Basair is not a very good choice? If i am not mistaken?

Again thanks you all for all the input! They are all very helpful!

I have never dealt with them, but from an outsiders perspective, it's like a Indian sausage factory!

Just my 2 bob.

dang....Melbourne Flight training is full and have a waiting list until next year.

I am wondering if there any other choice? Have anyone heard about Moorabbin Flying services? or Bini flight training?

Do they accept international students?

thanks!

Flight Training in Australia

Well, i'm also interested in doing flight training in Australia. i personally prefer doing so in Queensland, cause the weather is quite good around the year.

Have you guys heard of these flight schools?

Well, i have been to Moorabbin airport before, but haven't flown there before. From their outlooks, Moorabbin flying services and Melbourne flying services seem to be of the same scale.

Btw, have you guys heard of sydney aviation college? any comments?
