ICAO Doc 8168: best sources for study?
Hello there folks,
As an ICAO ATPL holder in the middle of JAA conversion, I have been scratching my head about this "ICAO 8168"...
ICAO On-line Publications Purchasing Site
I am attending a priminary aircrew selection in a few weeks, and I have been told to come prepared and familiarized with ICAO Document 8168 and that [european] nation's AIP...
The trouble I am having is knowing what exactly is in the document, and whether there is a free online copy available to study from...
Having found the official ICAO site, I am wondering if I can have to buy BOTH parts, as the 2nd one is ridiculously expensive...
Is part 1 the only one we need to study as aircrew? It sounds like the 2nd part is for airlines and Civil Aviation Authorities to use in making new approaches...
Would this 2nd part be something we need to study in for an airline selection process?
In other words, when aircrew have to become familiar with this document, what is the most painless way of learning it [or do I have to bend over and take the $700 hit for a 2008 edition that will be outdated by the New Year..]
ICAO Publications and Training Aids
I also found these, and am wondering why they are cheaper... [whats the catch?]

If you wish to PM me with an email address I can send you a full copy of the contents page (8 pages in word, using 10 point). Sorry, but I'm not able to send or post an electronic version.
I have no idea if the version I have is in the same format as that offered for sale at this time (I have it in 3 parts).
Any specific questions I will try to help.
