ATPL skill test conversion with type
I have the FAA ATP with three type ratings.
Qualified to sit and passed the JAA ATPL exams based on my experience and not having to go through any groundschool. The catch is that I have to do the skill test on a type of aircraft that is already on my FAA ATP.
The problem I am facing is that it is impossible or really expensive to rent a sim with a TRE to complete the skill test.
My question is
Can I get a new FAA type rating and at the same time perform the skill test for the JAA?
Or, does the CAA requires me to have any time in the airplane, in addition to the type rating in my FAA ATP, before they can accept the skill test?

Skill Test
You need to do the rating training and skill test with an JAA TRTO, then you can do all together, f.e. doing an FAA Rating, JAA Rating and skill test (if the TRTO offers FAA training as well!), without additional hours on type. If you have more than 500h on the type on your FAA ticket, you can do the skill test without additional training. But in all cases you have to do it in the UK, because CAA doesnt send their inspectors abroad. Thats my experiences, good luck!

I read over and over the regulations and what I found out is that there is no set regulation about it. Its up to every European country to accept what they feel like is appropriate for them.
After running around for three weeks I was able to find an MD-83 operator that is also a TRTO. They reviewed my paperwork and offered the next time they book the sim for their pilots to send me with them. Cost would be minimal in the range of 1500 euros. Skill test is scheduled for mid November. Thank God!
My advise...pay the money and find a cheap ground school so you are not limited on the skill test like I was.
