Well i like to hear your side of the story first
I am not sure about epic shutting down and about the duchess
True the maldivian investors did help a lot
But it certainly does not help if current students try drive away future students
In doing so we all will shut epic down indirectly
If you do have information then please do post it here on pprune.org
Good or bad . It does not matter .
No flying school out there is perfect .
Each has its good and bad points
If there is something that you know that the rest of us dont then please post it out here instead of waiting for someone like me to find out later and then post it here
If You know it . Then tell it here

well bummer
well its not ethical from me as an outsider to open the precise information and disclose it to the public...maybe the stuff i heard its isnt 100% true...
so i give the benefit of the doubt and i just come over here and post on pprune just warnings on flight schools that they are doing a bad job and bad customer service...
that was my 2 cents, the comments on fligthschoolreviewers.com give a good feedback on the school so am sorry !!
the wheel will turn one day
Regards,

Epic has helped greatly
So if you haven't gone to Epic, if you haven't seen their facilities, if you haven't touched their new wrap around simulator you actually have little to base your arguments on.
I am a student now at Epic and it has been great. Their new ground school (Aviation Skills Development) puts the students starting now ahead of the learning curve greatly. It works out to be cheaper for Epic and the student.
Everything they claim is true. It's a 6 month program - if you mess around and fail checkrides/written exams/party then it will take longer. Get your priorities straight and you'll finish in the program. The fixed price program is a guarantee - again, if you mess around and don't take flight training seriously then you'll be kicked out of the program and put on a pay-as-you-go program - but that doesn't necessarily mean you have to pay more. It just means the financial burden is on you, not Epic anymore - the contract you have with them remains the same.
If you're looking at flight schools try to decipher all the BS and pick a school on the facts. Epic is an honest business and anyone who is slanting their name with hearsay should grow a pair.

Epic
I am currently a student at Epic. I have my CMEL with IR and im about to complete my CSEL. I have been flying just under 5mths. I came here 6mths ago. I was placed in a nice apt complex when I arrived but I was fortunate as all my other class mates were placed in Ocean Oaks. Personally, I would not live in Ocean Oaks. No way!!! I have been through the whole course from zero in this time frame. I stayed motivated and yes you could probably say I got lucky....but we make our own luck. The weather was favourable and I flew as much as I could. I had a good instructor which helps also but I have to say the instructors at the school are all good and when it comes down to it most are really cool guys. The single engine aircraft are great!!!! Simple!!! The multi are not!!! Saying that...I had so much fun flying them. I really did. Also the area the school fly out of, NSB, is perfect for learning!!! As for the nightlife...well, it sucks, and the area is rather boring to be honest but im here to fly and thats what I did and continue to do.
Overall...you will never find a perfect school anywhere I feel. I researched so many and I always found negitives and positives with everyone. Different people will have different experiences. Though for me Epic has been the right choice. I have finished my whole course in under 6mths and im leaving for home next week. At times I have been frustrated with the school and other times I have been so happy that I couldnt wait to get up in the air again. My story is a positive one with great experiences. Stay positive and motivated and you will do just fine. Im not promoting the school here, im just telling my side of it. Ill be honest and say it how it is. Anyone looking info PM me.
By the way the school does not do JAA. It is FAA only. You need to convert via a school in a JAA state or one registered to be able to do so.

Epic.
Wis, When the price changed there were some upset. But that was 7 months ago. Now the student that are here understand and have agreed to new pricing plans. It's still a great deal. The price did change, but I prices always go up in the market (inflation).
You need to PM me and tell me where you're getting your info... Let's put a stop to this.

New Multi at Epic
Dude, Wis.
Epic just got a new Seminole with 300 hrs TT with the full avionics suite. They got rid of 5 cessnas but such is the flexibility with leasebacks, they weren't being flown!
I see great things in store for them and their multi-program.

To any of you considering paying up front for a flying education.
(Even if you're paying in 5 monthly installments - if you're not done in five months, you paid up front)
You should never have to pay more than a week or two up front at any time.
If you are required to pay more than a week or two in advance, then you should seriously consider NOT attending that school.
There have been numerous cases of flight schools going "bankrupt" with hundreds, even thousands of pilots being victimized as a result.
A flight school that is financially sound will not require significant advance payments, but will also not be expected to carry the students.
A "flight school" that is not financially sound, or is in fact a ponzi scheme (using the new persons payments to cover the expenses of the previous person), will require significant amounts upfront.
Even if the school presents the argument that they need to know that you're "good for it", your response should be, well, if I can't make a payment, you stop teaching me, meanwhile you'll get money from me in advance each week.
