Anyone else at Aeros in Staverton?

Well, I had my first lesson on Saturday once the clouds finally lifted enough. Result?.... I caught the bug baaaaaadly and my bank balance is on course for decimation!

It was a fantastic first lesson and I ended up spending close to three hours in total with my instructor, who taught me far more than I had ever expected to come out of any "trial". Although feeling airsick was entirely new to me and something I hope won't repeat itself!

I've now booked some subsequent lessons - aiming to achieve a PPL in the first instance this year. Overall goal is to obtain a frozen ATPL within the next few years and then leave my (comparatively dull!) IT career behind.

Was wondering if there are any other Aeros students lurking about here? Would be great to get to know a few others.

Hey BP, What was your first impressions of Aeros?

I did/am considering doing the training with them but I'm favoring B-F-C.

Original plan was like most; PPL > CPL > Multi-IR > FI and when I have close to 1,000hr TT an MCC. (Which can all be done via Aeros - accept for MCC).

B-F-C don't do an FI ticket as far as I can research and the Multi-IR is done before the CPL. But they are a very respected school and by my calculations not much more expensive than Aeros?

I haven't yet decided where I'll continue my studies post-PPL..
in fact I wasn't actually planning on starting my training yet, but merely to experience a trial flight and get a feel for whether this really was something I wanted to do. I'd thought previously of saving up and then most likely taking the integrated route. Oh, how things can change quickly.

I chose Aeros having read some good things about them and being one of the most well located schools for me.

As I've only had one lesson so far, and visited twice - I am of course entirely limited to first impressions.

However, so far I cannot fault them. Unfortunately due to our lovely weather it was a case of 4th (!!!) time lucky in actually being able to fly. Yes, all of my lessons had been booked on those bad days we had in between the fantastic weather. Obviously this is out of their hands, but I can only give compliments in how they handled it and re-arranged.

The whole operation came across as very professional, everyone was friendly and I was shown around. I really felt welcomed and as though I got value for money.

As for the flight - Piper PA28-161 which seemed to my untrained eye at least to be well maintained. My instructor - hopefully remembering this right: He's a retired ex Cathay Pacific captain, who's flown the TriStar, 707, 747 (several variants) and 777 - I couldn't have felt in more experienced and secure company!

So whilst not able to compare costs as I haven't researched this extensively enough yet, I'd definitely say it's worth paying them a visit.

Be assured I don't work for them, and only found out about them from postings here. I'd also be prompt to complain if I felt unhappy with their service!

Hi did my commercial license with Aeros just to let you know you wont go far wrong with a school like Aeros and especially an Instructor like Dave Eccles top bloke ,Good luck with the training and have one in the Aviator for me.

Did all my training & hour building there, gained a FTP in all skill tests, top school, top people, they have their own maintainance facility to ensure planes are serviceable etc so generally there's no issues with having a plane free (lot's to choose from too).
Did my FIC course with them too, then instructed during the summer last year.

I am currently hour building at Aeros Staverton before I take my CPL and Multi IR courses later this year.

Did my PPL there after some recommendations from friends coupled with the convenience of their location. I have found them to be an excellent FTO; they have a welcoming friendly atmosphere and they are not too small so have all the facilities/courses one needs but not too big to be viewed or treated as just a 'number'.

Would recommend them to anybody contemplating trial lessons or flying training.

Also, don't worry about a bout of airsickness - a huge number of people are susceptible on their first few flights but you will quickly get used to it. Good luck!
