If you failed OAT's test for co-ordination in their recent selection and have a PPL (H) I suggest that on the day the standard required was set slightly above your current ability.
This level could have been set for the company requirements which may have been higher than for general selection.
Surely the de-briefer gave you an insight on where you went wrong and how to improve.
The level required for a PPL is not the same as those required for an ATPL on a sponsored scheme.

Actually there was no de-brief; only results. However, whilst my hovering skills are quite good for real, they're obviously not up to the standard of some other candidates. However, if this was supposed to be an indication of how quickly I could pick up handling skills, then I don't think it was particularly accurate. 
The test was for those who had never even sat in a helicopter as well as those who held a PPL. Those who had never flown before seemed to do better. However, in this context is it really an indication as to how quickly I could learn especially given I'm half way there? I remain to be convinced.

I think what Night Fr8 meant is twofold. Firstly, MPL is coming soon and will change the landscape though nobody quite knows how much yet. It will be first choice for many cadet schemes. Integrated will be first choice for a handful of airlines that only take such grads, but don't have a cadet scheme. It's hard to say how this will effect Modular grads, but I suspect the airlines who take them now will probably continue to do so. The more likely effect will be that wannabes may get gun shy of the Modular route.
Secondly, some airlines have a 2 FTO Modular rule. After MPL arrives, this rule might spread to others. Personally, I think it's a pretty smart way to train anyway, but many Modular students shop around for best price per module and end up with more than 2 on their records. This may have to change.

It is my understanding that the Oat tests are not considered particularly representative of aptitude for someone with a few hundred hours, so this could be a factor for your results. Additionally, the test you describe is much more relevant to airplanes than helicopters, meaning that your helicopter hours may have hurt you even more, so that 100 Heli hours has the same effect 200 stiff wing hours does on that test. Sadly, arguing this then or now probably would not make much difference. It is also possible that some of those chosen may have similar hours to you, but did better on the tests. It's unfortunate, but you just have to crack on, as cadet schemes only choose 3-5% of the applicants, so it was always a long shot.

Also it is worth thinking about this side of things..
It really is a bit like uni... you apply to 3 or 5 but you may only get accepted by 1 or 2... and these may not be your first choice.. that by no means you will come out being less of a Doctor for example!!

I failed part of the OAT skills assessment initially - and resat it 6 months later and passed. That was two and a half years ago. Now finished the integrated course with OAT, 97% average GS, first time CPL/IR and have been selected by BA for their SSP scheme- so it can be done! I think the key is to have confidence in your own ability, and very importantly - the right attitude!
