A320 Realistic Time/Cost for Type Rating
An A320 Type Rating school in the US (SimCorp) is offering an initial A320 type rating with the following:
Initial w/o Previous Experience
80 hrs of Ground School - includes:
80 hrs of Ground School - includes:
- 12 hrs of Cockpit Procedures Training including MCDU
- 16 hrs Systems Integration Training (8 hrs left seat & 8 hrs right seat)
- 24 hrs Level C or D Full Flight Simulator (12hrs left seat & 12hrs right seat.
Is this a realistic amount of time to complete an initial A320 type rating?
I've heard it taking experienced pilots up to 50 hours in the A320 sim to get a grip on things... These guys are offering 30 plus 12 hours of procedures training (am not even sure if that's done in a sim).

"Level C" I am not sure about that. Type ratings have to be carried out in full motion Level D simulators to the best of my knowledge. I would double check that with the Caa and the school to be safe.
