737 MCC in Bournemouth

737 MCC in Bournemouth
Was told about a good MCC offered on a 737 sim in Bournemouth, but can't seem to find the school that offered it - can only find ones offering it on the TriStar. Anyone know which school it is?

PFT - Professional Flight Training gave a lecture at CATS and spoke about MCC training.
They spoke about the Tristar, B747, and the B737-200 (I think?)
So maybe it is them?

What is the point of trying to do an MCC L1011 & 737's anyway? To all intents and purposes an MCC could be done in a cardboard box, except that it wouldn't be approved. The MCC course is about working in a Multi Crew team, there is precious little handling involved in most of these courses.
If Jet Orientation is what people want doing an MCC is hardly of much benefit being done in such equipment. Do a course of advanced handling operating to a typical Airline SOP - it will be of much more use getting experience on a sim that represents the handling qualities of the aircraft you hope to fly.

This arguement has been done to death, it's widely accepted that you do not need a full motion sim, or even a fixed FNPT 2 to complete the criteria and objectives of passing a MCC course and gaining CRM skills, however it's literally impossible not to gain some sort of experience on basic jet flying and operating techniques as a side benefit.
I completed my MCC at EAAC on the Tristar and can thoroughly recommend it. For £400 more then most generic t/props FNPT's it doesn't make sense not to go this route. After the course finished for the day EAAC were happy for us to practice handflying the Tristar with the motion off unless the engineers needed to service it.
I have recently started as a first officer on a jet and believe that my sim check would have had a very different outcome if it wasn't for some of the skills I learned/practiced on the Tristar.

To anyone out there looking for MCC courses, have a look at European, Bournemouth Airport. Completed my MCC at the end of October with European on the Tristar.
The course was excellent, instructors very experienced ex TRE/TRIs, the Tristar sim was a fantastic training tool, and great fun to operate with the full motion on.
Had a very enjoyable LOFT exercise from Heathrow to Glasgow and back,really got you keeping the paper work up to date when PM. The Micoburst exercise is an eye opener.....
The instructors put the course across very well,and throw in alot of extras to help in the future.

I can confirm that the Tristar is no more and that all future courses will be run on the B737-200 at the same price of £2399 incl vat.

Another thumbs up for European at Bournemouth. Went on their MCC course at the end of November on the B732 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Also managed to blag a go on the 747-200 and S-61
sims while there. A very friendly place and a good course too.

And another vote for European. I was on the same course as Shortleg, and was very impressed with the standard of instruction, as well as the facilities. I doubt there are many other places that let students use the sims for free after their sessions are finished.
While I could have done an MCC in a cardboard box, I'd have missed out on 20 (actually more like 30) hours hand-flying practice in a 737 sim, not to mention the 747 and S-61.
And not forgetting TD's invaluable advice on longhaul lifestyles . . .

I'd definitely recommend European Aviation in Bournemouth for the MCC. I did my MCC there on the 737-200 towards the end of 2007. The Tri-Star Sim had broken and they had started to use the 737.
Although the MCC as some people have mentioned is just a tick box on your licence,getting experience on a full motion sim will be invaluable for any sim check you go on to do. It was my first experience of handling a real simulator and it was an eye opener,more so than I expected. For the experience of that alone it's worth doing it here.
The instructors & sim engineers are also first class,huge amount of experience between them and very relaxed friendly atmosphere. The course is more like a Jet Orientation Course and MCC combined,all the theory covered in the 3 days classroom reflected that.As some have already mentioned they do throw in extras in terms of time. EAC is also an airline in it's own right and most of the course is based around their procedures.
The airport is about a 10 minute drive out of Bournemouth/Boscombe itself. Easy to find a hotel B&B for about £20-£25 per night. You would probably need a car though. There is a bus out from Bournemouth/Boscombe to the airport but it only stops at the terminal which is on the opposite side of the airfield and quite a long walk over to the Western side were EAC is located
If you are planning on going for an airline post then make sure you do your MCC on a full motion Jet Sim,wherever it might be.

Hi folks,
Would recommend European too. I had a great time and the instructors are great while keeping the all thing pretty laid back. After all, it's a mcc course not a TR (isn't it Bob)

Engineers are great, on the spot the moment you may report a problem with sim (usually operator finger trouble, so they say
)
Again without starting the debate, flying a full motion jet sim is just an exellent experience, and yes it is run as an MCC with a good ellement of JOC.
I was staying away from home, so at the weekend had full access to the sim for familiarisation and if the sim is being used then you can sit in/at the carboard version in the classroom.
European where looking for an FO at the time, and if any of us had had 500 hrs there was an interview pretty much on offer. Could have been the right place at the right time for someone, none of us had 500hrs
Coffee is free and regular and Mandy even makes the 1st cup for you

Long time reader of pprune, however my first post. Having now completed all the training for my Frozen ATPL I just wanted to say a few words about my MCC course provider. I selected European Aviation in Bournemouth on the basis of posts on here and prior students' comments. I was not disappointed. The instructors are excellent, the sim is great fun and the price is right. ( A rare thing in aviation training providers).
I would thoroughly recommend anyone who is contemplating an MCC to give them a go as the full motion sim, is so much better a spruced up fnpt2 trainer.

new mcc trainer
I was looking around a new MCC school, they have an ALX glass cockpit simulator with EIFIS and the works! Apparently it is the first off the line from ALSIM and therefore the only one in the world.
I was given a demo and it was superb!

All the trainers are serving airline or corporate pilots.
The sim itself is based on airbus so good for systems and getting familiar with the glass environment. it was a very impressive piece of kit.
