Flying in USA with JAA licence

I read a lot of discussions regarding flying in the USA with JAA licence...but I still didn't get right answer for my question!

I have JAA PPL with ATPL theory, and to do ME,IR,CPL I would rather pay $100 for C172 in USA than €120 in my country.
I want to know; can I come to USA for eg. Florida and fly with my JAA licence and get ratings like ME, IR?

Yes you can zoom, it's been discussed here before.
But we'll do it again if you like:

• Go to the FAA website www.faa.gov
• Click on "quickfind"
• Look for "foreign pilot"
• It should lead you to this document:http://www.faa.gov/licenses_certific...erify61-75.pdf
• Fill everything out according to the instructions
• Select a FSDO of your choice
• FSDO stands for "Flight Standards District Office"
• You can find a suitable location on the FAA website
• For the IR to carry over you need to take a written test
• It's called the "foreign pilot instrument written test"
• Nothing needed to add the ME just tick the box.
• Pick up the paperwork at the FSDO, this takes up to 60 days.
• You will need a Flight review in acc with 14 CFR 61.56
• And a Instrument proficiency check before you can act as PIC

You will be in possesion of what is known as a " restricted license".
It is restricted because it is based on and carries the restrictions of the foreign license, including the experiation dates.
You can add anything and everything to a "restricted foreign based" license, IR, ME seaplane, balloon, glider anything by taking the appropriate training and checkride with FAA examiner.
The Foreign IR does NOT carry over if you do an FAA CPL checkride.
So if you want to have IR priviliges on your US CPL you need to take an Instrument practical test w/ examiner first. Which requires a normal "Instrument written test".

B2N2, he says he wants JAA ratings, he has JAA PPl and ATPL, so you can add the CPL and ME in the US but you wouldn't be able to do the JAA IR, but zooooom as B2N2 says you will need to follow the first few steps of his list and get an FAA PPL based on your JAA one and complete a BFR

So Mcgoo, what you are saying is that I can make JAA ME and CPL in the USA but I cannot make JAA IR there. Can you please explain what is a problem with making JAA IR in the USA?

They do not allow IR training in the US, they only recognize IR training taken place in European Airspace.
So you can do a JAA PPL, ME en CPL abroad but not the IR, simply the way it is.

Incorrect.

You can complete part of your training in the US. I know one school which does 25 hours single, 5 hours multi then 10 hours sim, 10 hours multi in the UK. A lot more aircraft and real IR time than some courses in the UK.

Some training may be completed in the US just not all.

Naples aren't approved for this only European Flight Training are for training in the US.
