Flight cases

Afternoon all,

Not sure if this is the right place to post..... So sorry if it should be elsewhere.

Ok, i am off on a CTC course in November, and my family want to get me something to take away with me, now as i have a job right now i am in a position to buy most of what i need, however they are adamant and keep going on.....

So i thought i might get myself a flight case, now i am aware that CTC provide one of these (but i would imagine like the headsets they are from the cheaper end of the scale...) so i thought whilst someone else was paying i might as well get a nice one....

So far i have had a browse, this one seems very nice (and i like the idea of the wheels for an old man )

In black of course...

However if anyone has any advice, i would be glad of it! (dont want to get the wrong one.... although what can be that different on a case?)

So if anyone has some helpfull comments, be glad to hear them! (will get the family of me back... for a while anyway!)

Cheers

Just bear in mind that whatever one you do end up getting, you will need to consider how you are going to get it out to NZ and back - by this I mean in terms of whether you'll take it as hand luggage (bearing in mind the 7kg allowance on SQ) or whether you're going to put it in the hold.

I did the latter and wrapped it tightly in bubble wrap (several layers) and it seemed to do the trick. However, there is never any guarantee with hold baggage. It's amazing the number of bags you see turn up on day one, week one that have had a huge chunk taken out of them by being put in the hold with no protection.

So if you're family are going to get you a decent one, you may want to consider only taking it as cabin baggage and restricting the amount of stuff you put in it so it's within the allowance.

Maybe not quite answering your question I know, but hopefully helpful nonetheless.

I have me one of these..

http://www.thehopstop.co.uk/pd_1028_...ilot_case.html

It's on wheels (LHR is a big place to lug a bag around) and has a laptop compartment as well which will be useful I imagine. Plus it's guaranteed and it's made of hard wearing stuff. I throw it around in my car and my house and doesn't mark very easily! Not leather it's synthetic but it's a good case.

Yeh but you were a steward James and I told ya about walking round airfields with it dargging behind you , not exactly a steely eyed image.
A friend of mine went to CTC in NZ and he mail ordered his in the uk for delivery to NZ it cost him much less than excess baggage
