need some advice for a south korean boy

Hi. I'm a south korean national (19 years old) and have a Australian PPL. I'm now a second year mechanical engineering student in Australia.

Thing is, all the airlines in South Korea do not hire people with bad eyesight. I have Australian CASA Class 1 medical with the spectacles but Korean Air and Asiana Airlines are only taking people with at least 0.5/2.0. This drives me crazy.

This is what I have been thinking. I might head off to USA and get CPL + IR + ME + written ATP and do a type rating and seek an employment in Asian region.

If I were to do so, does being an asian help a lot in getting a job in Malaysia or Thailand? I have been reading Air Asia stuffs and it sounds pretty cool. I used to live in Malaysia and I consider it as my second home and want to stay there for a couple of years.

I would really appreciate your opinion. Thank you very much.
