Could anyone explain to me what a JAR-FCL Ab-initio Integrated Course is and where one can take such a course?

Many thanks

Go onto the UK CAA website, download a copy of LASORS and have a read. It gives good gen on integrated and modular and the hoops you need to jump through for each. Whilst there grab a copy of the list of approved flight training organisations. The approved integrated schools are all included.

it essentially takes you from zero hours to being an employable commercial pilot (except for the type rating course for whatever aircraft they let you loose on)

you end up wth about 160 ish hours at the end of it, a commercial licence with an instrument rating on a multi engine light aircraft, passes in the ATPL theory exams (all 14 of the b@$£&£?s !) and a short course about multi crew operations.

if you want, you can pay less and do all the bits separately, but the flying schools wont love you so much and wont help you get a job - you're all on your own! There is loads of info about both integrated and modular courses on this website.

as to where you take it - oxford, cabair and maybe a couple of others do the 'integrated' courses, not that much choice really. if you do modular, you there will be a school at most reasonably sized airports in the uk where you can do an instrument rating and cpl, just search the web or this site...

Sick bag, Potkettle ... thank you both very much.
There is this RAK Airways in the UAE where one of the requirements is 250 hours as long the candidate has got that JAR thing.

Cheers
