Flight Training Europe - Modular CPL & IR
Hi
Thinking of doing my CPL and IR with Flight Training Europe in Jerez, Spain.
I am a little pertrubed at the moment. I looked into doing an integrated course with Flight Training europe approx 8 months ago. At that time they couldn't help me enough, repeated phone calls finance deals etc..
However I chose to go down the Modular route for the obvious cost benefit.
I have just reapproached Flight Training Europe recently, with the view of doing my CPL & IR with them.
However the response this time has almost been the complete opposite its almost like they don't want my business.
There a couple of things I am not happy with regarding the school:
1) They are asking for payment to be made in full at the start of training.
2) There lack of interest in my business , makes me feel that they are concentrating on there airline sponsered cadets.
Can anybody who has been there let me know:
A) what they thought ?
B) There experiances ?
C) Are there any hidden costs or is there all in price on the money ?
D) weather they would recommend the school ?

I had a similar experience with them, re their Modular and Integrated courses. I went to a talk they gave here in Dublin about a year ago. When I asked them to talk a bit about their Modular courses they seemed a bit annoyed that I had even brought the Modular subject up. They dismissed it as if it was only something they did out of the goodness of their heart. Definitely put me off them even for the Integrated route.
Shame really as they have a great set-up down there and I'm sure they could do some great business on the Modular side if they were only willing to give it the attention it deserves.
From my dealings with prospective FTO's, my advice is if you want to go the Modular route, then stay away from FTO's that run both Integrated and Modular courses. You'll get a far better level of service at an FTO that specialises in just Modular training and you wont be treated like a second class citizen.

Could not agree more. Visited this place in early Oct to look at modular.
Facilties, aircraft, CFI & environment? Dix points.
Attitude, responsiveness, and general organisational fuzzy-comfort factor? Nil points.
The fact that they even mention payment up front as an opening gambit is shockingly patronising (whether or not people fall for it I don't know).
I suspect that once you are there and they've finally decided to do you the favour of taking your money, you'll probably get a good product, but when I am spending that much money I at least want to be made to feel important at the sales stage. Could be a cultural thing.
My theory is that before training started picking up again they probably decided to market modular to get them through a short term dry patch. Now things are looking up again they're probably frantically back pedalling to put us modular peasants off. Fact is, with the relative profit margin on an integrated vs modular course I can't really blame them.

Just to echo the previous comments.I myself inquired about modular groundschool thru to CPL/IR flying.Sure enough they sent out the information pack etc and asked me to visit.
However reading into their replies over the e-mail's they weren't willing to offer me the groundschool even thought they are marketing it on their website!!So again I asked to clarify their position to which they said they would only teach me the groundschool IF I went integrated,pointless to me already with PPL and some logged hours.
On the other hand Oxford have been all to nice with their groundschool so off there in February then to Aeros at Gloucester to complete the hour buidling and flying with them.Unlike FTE they have been very helpful,2students to 1 instructor,nice reduced rate for my hour building and totally friendly and welcoming.

I was there when they got their modular approval and started to offer it at a price that put all the potential customers off!
To be honest, they don't want modular business - full stop. However, there are plenty of people who do so have a bit of a look around.
