Are you mad Sir?

So, off I went to HSBC to sort out a bit of dosh for the ATPL. All is going well and we get to the question:

So, what will be your earning potential upon qualification Mr xxxx?

So, I tell her £25-£40k, being the ever optimist I am!!!!

Puzzled, she looks at me and asks, "why do you want to get yourself into £35,000 worth of debt to earn a salary £20,000 lower than you are now?"

I suppose she has a point right, and I haven't even told her i'll probably need another £20k for more training!!

What a weird and wonderful industry this is. I sometimes find myself asking whether I am slightly mad!! How do you explain your passion without sounding like a complete and utter sado....

Your experience Just demonstrates the well known fact that bank managers have no souls!

It also gives a pretty good indication why they all have so much money!!

A pretty fair question. What was your answer?
