I will more than likely pop(ham) down heehee. .Coming in an Alfa 156 (5-seater) )

Must be Friday.....

Lowtimer 1st February 2002 21:28

I'm in - but unlikely to be able to get use of a club aeroplane all day at a weekend, so may have to drive (boo...) unless someone from East Anglia or East Mids area fancies a cost-sharer...

InFinRetirement 1st February 2002 21:31

Are retired pilots in cars allowed to come along?

arrow2 1st February 2002 21:38

Anyone told Dick at Popham what we are planning? Just in case he needs to buy in more sausages! BTW if I come I will be in a PA28R Arrow 4, not a 180!

A2 :)

SlipSlider 1st February 2002 22:14

Genghis, add me as a probable, Champ'ing from Goodwood, with Evo7 as nav. But .... the Aeronca Club are hosting the US Classics fly-in that weekend at Kemble, so I will be looking for the optimum way to combine the two.. .Slip.

HelenD 1st February 2002 22:21

I hope to make it though at this moment it will be by car from EGHI unless I am lucky to have got the licence by then.

stolport 1st February 2002 23:11

add me, either in a C152 or PA28 from Plymouth-seats available if anyone wants to come. .

AerBabe 2nd February 2002 00:34

Is this going to be a one-day event, or are we turning it into a weekender? How about a pyjama party, BBQ, and campout?

SimJock 2nd February 2002 00:49

Add .. Simjock from Shoreham PA28, possibly in 'loose formation'with Fuji ?

Keef 2nd February 2002 01:15

Add Keef, in an Arrow III from EGMC.

Anyone in the area want a lift?

Warped Factor 2nd February 2002 03:18

I'll hopefully be in the Chipmunk, may or may not have a spare seat.

WF.

Captain Airclues 2nd February 2002 04:08

I agree with arrow2. Should we not check with dick first to make sure that it doesn't clash with one of his events. They have one or two microlight fly-ins during the summer. I can't do it as I'll be abroad for the next two weeks.

Airclues

PS I'll be arriving in a Volvo 850 as I've just sold my aircraft (it was Popham based anyway).

LowNSlow 2nd February 2002 14:41

Genghis, sorry, strike me off, I'll be in the land of your namesake (Kazakhstan) then. I can do it on the weekend of 11/12 May or 15/16 June. Shame, haven't been to Popham for a while.

Cap'n why don't you borrow the boy's Cub? Or won't he let Dad drive :)

If it does get rescheduled due to my begging or Dick being occupied on the 1st I can offer a lift to anybody who needs a lift with 50 or so miles of Luton. It's an Auster, Not a 73 so short runways are not a problem

Would you prefer to travel by Auster or Volvo Cap'n A?

Captain Airclues 2nd February 2002 15:18

LowNSlow

Prefer the Auster any day, just stay away from those Cb's . .I'm free 11th/12th May if Dick says no to the 1st June. When are you going to bring your Auster down to WW LowNSlow?

Genghis the Engineer 2nd February 2002 16:40

Just 'cos I tried to pull a list together, doesn't mean I'm volunteering to be in charge of anything but me and my aeroplane.

Having said that, if nobody's been able to have a word with Dick by then, I can probably drop by there next weekend for a word with him.

Irv 2nd February 2002 19:12

I read this Popham visit in the other thread and quietly put Dick on major BBQ alert for June 1st over a week ago. He says you're all very welcome, and of course if you need arrival briefs, just ask.

Also, I've started talking to 'nearby licensed airfields' to see if they will offer any student/instructor combinations any cheap/free deal to stop off before and after Popham to allow logging time for any student taking part to be counted towards the 45. It would be a shame to come any distance on a PPL Navex and not log it. Obviously in the grand scheme of things, getting two extra landings cheap or free will not make a huge difference, but every little helps, and I guess when learning, every extra airfield helps too.

White Shadow 2nd February 2002 20:08

Looks as if this will be interesting.... .For your list, Genghis -. .White Shadow, from Dunks

suction 3rd February 2002 01:22

Hi All,

I've added the fly-in to my web site (Unsurprisingly it's on the Fly-In menu). You can register or update your details from there (although it's through e-mail - so you have to wait for me to do it manually). Please also take this as an open invitation to stress test my new site.

Here's the link : Short Finals

Cheers

LowNSlow 3rd February 2002 10:40

Cap'n, I have a new Cb detector fitted to the Auster. I look out with both eyes now :)

Wx permitting I'll be visiting WW late Feb - early March to take you up on the offer of a cuppa.

Courtman 3rd February 2002 13:05

Subject to roster, count me in please. PA28 (GATHR) from Luton.

Might be able to squeeze 1 or 2 pax in. If you are local-ish and want a lift, drop me an e-mail. I'll route via somewhere too, especially if its interesting!

Jetscream 32 3rd February 2002 13:32

Popham - "Rather"

Count me in - tally ho, bags of smoke, over the top - dagger, dagger, dagger.

Taildragger - Either Pitts or Super Cub, dont know what yet, pending stiffness of said orange sausage.

See you all there.. .Dick - Get those lamb & mint sausages going!

:) :) :)

Keef 4th February 2002 01:03

Suction - I tried to post to your website; it took ages to load, and I couldn't see a link for the Popham fly-in when the modem lights stopped flashing.

Anyway - put me down as a definite maybe, from EGMC in a PA28 Arrow. Spare seat or two if anyone wants.

suction 4th February 2002 03:24

Thanks Keef - you're on the list. Keep trying the site - I'm making changes daily as feedback comes in.

Cheers

Flypuppy 4th February 2002 03:26

Still a bit far away for me to say definately, but I fancy a trip back to Blighty to keep current, will be coming from EHRD (Rotterdam) in a twin of some description, probably a Duchess. Will be acompanied by Mrs FP and Flypupette.

PPRuNe Towers 4th February 2002 04:42

Me, Aeronca Chief but with the usual dull roster caveats...........

newswatcher 4th February 2002 19:15

Nothing yet showing on the Popham "events" list!

Guess this should really be on "anoraks" forum, but can anyone identify the interesting-looking aircraft there over the weekend, seen through the rain! About 5 down the row from the western end. Grey colour, nose wheel, Harvard?

Genghis the Engineer 4th February 2002 19:45

Yak-52, it lives there. G

newswatcher 5th February 2002 12:38

Thanks Genghis. It sure looks good amongst the other "ordinary" ones.

5th February 2002 19:46

Ohhh I've been out of the loop a bit.

IFR I remember I promised you a lift at the Bash and I have kept a place for you, also Bogcleaner wants to come and that means that unless Hersham Boy weighs about 9 stone he will have to find another lift. Sorry HB.

waldopepper42 5th February 2002 20:56

If back in the UK, I'll try to bring the Chipmunk.

Hersham Boy 6th February 2002 13:00

Funnily enough, New Bloke, I don't weigh much more than 9 stone... but no worries.

Bogcleaner not taking the big, fat Fuji?

Hersh

6th February 2002 13:52

Ah hersh, yes bogcleaner and I are joint owners of the big fat fuji.

If you really are 9 stone we might be able to fit you in. It depends if all of the runway at redhill is available (will be a first if it is)

T

Rote 8 6th February 2002 15:57

I am hoping to come down, either C152 from Wolverhampton International or with Whirlybird.

dublinpilot 6th February 2002 19:12

Anyone going from Ireland, with a spare seat?

Hersham Boy 6th February 2002 21:04

New Bloke/Bogcleaner/IFR - I'm nearer 10st these days it seems! I'll catch up with you and the green machine via four wheels or two wheels - or three wheels if another winged lift presents itself!

Cheers. .Hersh

Four Holer Roller 8th February 2002 19:05

Include FHR in a J3 Cub from the Cotswolds.

MikeSamuel 8th February 2002 22:27

If anyone is coming from the North, or Midlands area, and has room for one more.... .I would be grateful for a lift from Coventry, will cover landing costs etc.

Cheers,. . . . :) Mike
