Just spotted the thread - been away busy. I'll be there - AA-5. Looking forward to it already.. .-------------. .BTW I'll be coming from Sherburn with 2 spare seats if anyone's interested in a ride.. . . . [ 13 March 2002, 20:04: Message edited by: rightstuffer ]

Check out Todays Pilot, Issue 18. It has a free PilotsPass thingy that entitles you to 50% off landing fees there.

Just what I needed - an excuse to blow large amounts of money on a long cross-country!! . .. .Have to book the day with Mrs. Horn (might even bring her with me B.A.Baracus style). But otherwise will be there in an R22/44 depending on bank balance and number of interested Sandgrownans I can share costs with as pax... .. .Whirlybird - good luck with the R44 conversion. Lot less 'jittery' than the R22 and you get places without your teeth rattling lose . .Make sure you train on the hydraulics version - lot easier than the old electric-trim version!! And watchout if they have the auto-assist on the carb heat - great idea in the US, but a pain in the backside in the UK!!. .. .Let me know where you're doing your training in the US. Might be interested in hour building me'self at some point...

Popham - great place - whats going on there? I have picked up late on this so have missed the thread. Should I blow the Old Warden hangar dust off my Miles Magister or Falcon and chug on down? Please arrange zero crosswind - my ballet pumps have gone missing over the winter layoff.

Wycombe 22nd March 2002 12:35

Sounds like fun.. .. .Very familiar with local area (as did PPL at EGLK), but have never actually landed at Popham.. .. .Might give it a go - if I do I'll be in a brand-spanking 172SP, which will find the airfield and fly to it on it's own, only leaving me with those slightly non-standard approaches to worry about!!

FlyingForFun 22nd March 2002 13:06

Hairyplane,. .. .You shouldn't really be letting any aircraft gather hangard dust!!! But, if you have, this is the perfect excuse to blow some of the old cobwebs away. Can't guarantee zero cross-wind, so you'd better get some practice in first, but hope to see you at Popham on 1st June!. .. .FFF. .-------

FlyingForFun 27th March 2002 15:10

Well, it's getting closer and closer.. .. .Just to give you some advance warning so that you can make the necessary arrangements: some time around the beginning of May (which is about a month away ) I'll start trying to match people who want to be there but can't fly in, with people who have spare seats. So you need to start thinking about what plane you'll be taking, who you'll be going with, and if there will be any room for extras.... .. .There will always be a few late changes, but it would be nice if as many people as possible could list the following, by the end of April (unless you've already put all the details elsewhere on the thread):. .. .
[*]Home airfield
[*]Aircraft type
[*]Number of passengers
[*]Number of spare seats
[*]If not flying, any other airfields you'd be able to get to if no one is going from your home airfield. .
[/list]And, just to get things started:. .I'll be going from White Waltham. Unless I've purchased an aircraft by then, I'll be in a Super Cub, although there's a reasonable chance I'll be a part-owner of a Europa by June, in which case I'll take that instead. Either way, I have no passengers planned, so I'll have one spare seat.. .. .FFF. .----------

Any further news on 1st June meet.

Just to keep the header in the lime light really.

Irv 5th April 2002 19:43

I'm going to try and do a 'tips for first timers' on 4 Popham approaches - 6 weeks to go - might make it in time!

LowNSlow 6th April 2002 02:59

I keep checking this thread hoping it will be posponed to the 15th but no luck so far :(

SimJock 6th April 2002 03:24

long final 6th April 2002 08:33

Still not made the web sites events page though ....
Maybe they doubt us :p

MikeSamuel 6th April 2002 21:07

Maybe you don't want it to be to busy or whatever, but is it worth letting the likes of Pilot/Flyer know for their events pages? You could say joining this thread is necessary or something to control numbers...Just a thought...

Mike

Good idea, Mike! Not sure if it's too late though... Do you want to contact the mags and find out? Drop me a mail.

Shoreham Seat .?

Now then. My mates plane is booked out that day (part shared) so thats my lift gone. Has anyone got a spare seat from Shoreham.?

Irv 8th April 2002 14:05

long final: It's been in ink on the wall calendar by the radio man for some time, so it can't get much more official than that. I'll see if I can get it into events, but "I do not have control"
Do you need 'recogniton stickers' available when you book in on the day or do you all have strange tattoos, haircuts or handshakes?

AerBabe 8th April 2002 15:35

I have a tatoo... but it's not strange (or at least I don't think so). Does that mean I can't come? :(

Irv 8th April 2002 15:52

>>"I have a tatoo... Does that mean I can't come? "

Must... resist... temptation.. to answer. Bromide ... wearing.. off... again... arrrrghhh...:o
