Flying hours 2008
 

Last year I flew 38 hours,this year only 18hrs to date.
I retired in May this year so have all the time in the world ,the aircraft is available almost anytime,so it must be down to the awful weather we have had this year.
What about others,not counting commercial flights.

I only managed 36 hours so far this year. Aircraft was grounded for permit and then a MPD till April. I would normally expect to do twice this number of hours.:ugh:

About 170 hrs. total so far this year, of which 150 hrs P1. (I did my IMCR).

August and July were rubbish, but May, June, September and October were great. So far this year, amongst the usual bacon buttie and Duxford trips, I've made it to La rochelle, Berlin Templehof, Reus in Spain, Avignon, Carcassonne, Poitiers and Lyons.

As it happens, its been a good 3 years - I passed my PPL in Nov 04 and have racked up 500hrs since then.

Partly because I always wanted to, and partly because, when you own an a/c by yourself, it costs more or less the same to maintain whether it flys or not (bar the cost of the fuel - and if you fly abroad, you get the fuel drawback).

37 So far, not long to go mind, hopefully hit 40 !

just 30 (plus the job). This year was awful. In biggin this summer they hit the left aileron with a service truck, and the aircraft stayed on ground for almost 2 month. then the weather was not good. Last week I spent 3 in frankfurt before I could made my way home to UK.

Reasonable year for me, 138 so far...... All in the UK, all VFR

0! not including the job :( well had 45mins in a glider 2 weeks ago which was great fun. SEP expires in May so need to think about remembering how to fly a Warrior haha.

not been flying since......can't say at the moment that I am missing it too much.

The airfields and schools do not help........
I don't have to interact with Mr. Angry in the radio hut at Esltree.
You don't have to pay metre charges at Shoreham airport.
You don't have to waste time when you turn up at a 3rd airfield to be told the twin is in the hangar, and because it's a Sunday, no-one is around to pull it out.....do you mind waiting a couple of hours as someone "might" be here in the afternoon. Well I guess that puts paid to the flight plan I filed to go to France (for lunch & wine).

Probable number of hours in 2009? probably not a lot.

My gut feeling is that there are quite a lot of PPL's out there flying low teens or single figures.
Maybe some people don't like to post low hours?

Well, I'll stick my hand up to a mere 13 hours, though I have not flown since 24/7 due mainly to suspended medical (reinstated last week), and weather. I have been trying to get current again over the last week, but have had three attempts canned due to weather. I have booked with the CFI again this afternoon for a couple of hours to try to regain currency, so fingers crossed. Looks like I may have a testy crosswind gusting to 25 knots, so after 6 months on the ground, it will be interesting to see how I cope!!

PS so why am I not flying?
No fuel at airstrip and some domestic operations to be carried out:)

16 Dual (SEP re-training and tailwheel conversion)
2.8 Solo (including SEP renewal test)

But now I've got signed off on our group Auster I'm hoping for a lot more next year. :)

17 hours in the cub this year. Would have been more but some retired bugger with time on his hands always seems to have it booked:ok:
