A quite pathetic 16hrs P1, 2.5 dual (my lowest to date), due to wx & work, roll on next year.....

About 45 hours total time this year so far. A lot of those were aerobatics, but I also did a flight to Tempelhof and back (8.5 hours) and a gliding course (15 flights, about five hours flight time, all dual).

Not a bad year, actually.

226 so far, weather makes no difference, fly when you can.
I benefit by having aircraft in hanger 50 metres from back door :ok: So quite a bit of late evening flying in summer after I shut shop.
Quite a few long trips of over 500NM so hours build up on those...
All on microlight.

Now I'm retired I try to book midweek so the weekends are free,even so no one seems to fly it much.

120hrs so far, got a page to count up, so will be about the 140hr mark by end of year, usually do more but weather has played it part on a few planned trips!

Only 45.3 this year, less than half of my mean forthe past 14 years, weather, fuel price and the rebuild of my formation partner's a/c all accounted for this.

83 flights, only 11 >/= to 1.0hr

avg 36 mins/per flt overall, 24mins if no long transits. Five big Airshows, one trip to the CI and one new type, Justiciar's wonderful Alpi Pioneer!

That I lost my bestest friend (formation partner) and a good chum, Ian Davies in the Seething crash of 29Oct means that this is a flying year that I'll never forget.

Next year's total will depend on how quickly I rebuild my own aeroplane!

162, so it couldn't have been that bad a weather year.

The last 20 were achieved by the generosity of TOH, following engine problems discovered in the Temporary Champ and this thread gives me the chance to say thank you publicly. Come to think of it, the previous 22 owe a lot to him too. He got me focused on getting the Temporary Champ extremely quickly when Real Champ became an AAIB report.

24 hrs in the Super Cub and 30 learning to fly gliders to Silver C standard, so it wasn't that bad a summer, at least around Cambridge.

Just under 30. Price of avgas slowed me down. I fly just as often, just not for as long.

I should measure my flight experience in cycles instead of hours, like they do for airliners :)

80+ hours so far. Over 60 in the USA.

A dismal 21. - Lousy weather, fuel costs, moles buggering up the strip, failing enthusiasm.... Oh dear!

only about 18 this year. The weathers been awful. Out of interest, I've kept a 'log' of time when I've booked the plan and couldn't fly because of the weather. So far this year, the 'non flying time' adds up to 42!

Actually, neither hours nor cycles are a measure of experience...just time and component wear. An airline pilot logs hours too...but between the experience you gain from an hour in the pattern, and the experience an airline pilot gains from an hour of monitoring automated systems at altitude in level flight...you get more experience for the hour.

Two pilots each fly an identical airplane for one hour. One drones around looking out the window, and then lands. Another flies traffic patterns, practices stalls, does ground reference maneuvers, engages in various simulated emergencies, and then lands. Which one has gained more experience in that hour? Both flew one hour, but the latter pilot came away with much more from that hour than the first. Accordingly, while one may not fly many hours, one can still make the most of them.

This is one of the most endearing traits of the private pilot. Not flying enough to feel fully proficient all the time, the private pilot often resorts to flying maneuvers and sorties dedicated to proficiency. While I might go out and fly for proficiency every six months, a fraction of the time I'm actually out there...many who fly for fun or pleasure may be doing proficiency flights all the time...the lions share of your own flying. You might say, therefore that you're getting more experience than the individual who pushes the power levers up, engages the autopilot and autothrottle, and monitors systems while the airplane does the rest.

Bottom line...don't sell yourself short. It's tough to find the money to fly, it's tough to be dedicated enough to do it. Doing it on your own, seeking your own proficiency, your own experience speaks wonders for your dedication, and it's experience not to be disregarded or lightly dismissed. You're on the right track. We all wish we could fly more. I know I do. However, we do what we can, when we can, and make the most of what we've got. Sounds to me like you're doing just that.

Just over 30 P1 by the end of the year. Had hoped to get past the 100 TT mark by 31/12 but suspect not... Roll on next year and trips further afield..
