My 1974 "M" with 40" flap will float forever if you round out at any thing faster than 50kts, on the other side of the coin, with flap up, I am able to pin it to the ground and stop rather short (well short for flap up anyway) at speeds as high as 90kts. I think that when you get to know your aircraft, you will be suprised at what it will actually do.
