Security 1 October 2018 at Inverness.
An airside pass holder can escort another person airside who has a driving license for identification.
But If that person once held an airside pass, this is not permitted. They must produce a pilot's license as well as a driving license
This was not a decision by the gate security staff. It was upheld by the most senior management on duty at Inverness this morning.
After driving home to get his PPL, the LAA Inspector was allowed in, escorted by me, to check our aircraft. We were told this rule came from the CAA.
We were both wearing hi-viz.

CAA has had airport security in its remit since 2014.
But its minimum requirement there is nothing stopping airports being more restrictive. So even if you call them out for talking nonsense they will just say its a local requirement.
They have always had a thing for previous pass holders. Changing company's based locally was always a huge pain in the bum. More hassle than the first application.

I've made a note, that if I win the Lotto 143 million quid this weekend, I will find the **** at Inverness who was responsible, and make life difficult.

Inverness is run by HIAL. Imagine people too 'challenged' to work for the council where would they go? An even more dysfunctional organisation, pretty much wholly supported by government? Could be!
One has only to remember the mess that the council made of Oban, the present stupidity in Orkney and this, to see how jobsworths can thrive in a hidebound, rules orientated environment where logic is a foreign property!

I'd like to make it clear the procedure was confirmed face-to-face with senior management, not the security people, who were only doing what they have to do to keep their jobs.
