Jay Sata, your evident interest in the ridiculous antics of the idiotic Kirk runs the risk of undermining the excellent work you have done in exposing the lies of TC-T - it makes you look like just another story-hungry journo.

I suggest you leave Kirk to his own devices - that's all he deserves.

Certainly, I find there are a good number of sensible people who say it is best keep a distance from Maurice. But there are other sensible people who are fascinated to know the latest. So surely that justifies any journo's attention ?

BEagle............... Nothing to stop Jay championing both the wonderful Maurice K (true British eccentric) and exposing TC-T.

I wish Maurice a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS and pray that he will arrive safely in Cape Town thus confounding all his critics.

From his FB page it would seem that some of the spares have arrived.

And Liberty Girl II is being rebuilt.

Also the extent of how infected his right leg has been is here. Looks very severe to me:-

I am struggling to post the photo. Can someone do so if it is relevant?

Don't bother. It's his left leg for a start, c.2009. I can send you a link on basic human anatomy, if that helps.

Does anyone believe half the garbage on this thread?

Not really, in some ways I find it reminiscent of the TCT saga. If she had done half the things Kirk has committed she'd have been ripped to shreds (and rightly so).

The ref regards right and left leg is merely typo when I was thinking of his right ankle twist fracture being a part of a 2010 CAA medical report.

Bearing in mind the moderator does not what us to go into detail on his legal stuff, which thread are you referring to and what do you not believe ?

Beagle makes a valid point.

I have had a few similar private messages Beagle.

Below is my reply.

Kirk has been the architect of his own demise through his often selfish anti social attitude.

However he has managed some interesting long distance flying in challenging circumstance.

Although I have suggested he might be worthy of a minor award from the Air League you may have noticed my support does not extend to writing his nomination.

I see his facebook pages have been closed down. I suspect the reason being that he used them to launch personal attacks on Sam (Rutherford).
In my opinion Kirk could be now basking in a retirement funded by his veterinarian skills
and flying ability.

However he appears to have a short fuse when faced with those who challenge him when he feels he is in the right.

Hence the well documented litigation issues. If only he had adddressed these matters long ago the saga would not have been so long strung out or have cost him and the public purse so much.

However this is a pilots and flying forum so we are not here to judge the people
beyond their aviation exploits.

I admire his tenacity and ability to address every disaster and not give up.

Everyone wrote him off in South Sudan and it appears his illness is genuine. As a vet I guess he is well qualified to treat himself. If he pulls this one off then we have to admire him.

I have read a lot about Douglas Bader and am of the opinion that he at one time shared a similar attitude to Kirk. Different times make for different recognition.

If I had to suggest a great idea for a tv reality programme it would be putting Kirk and TCT in the same aircraft from the Falklands to Florida on a small budget.

And for Maurice Kirk I wish good luck and success for reaching Cape Town in the New Year.

So, one way, or the other, it would probably be a solo flight?

That said I admire his tenacity and ability to address every disaster
Yeah, but it sounds like a few disasters were of his own causing. I also admire people who conduct themselves so as to prevent disaster.

Tenacity is important, when you're challenging the elements. but when applied against other people, perhaps other's rights or privileges are being challenged. Maybe fair, maybe not so much....

My daughter is almost fifteen and has a keen interest in aviation. I'm not sure I would suggest MK (or indeed TCT) as a role model.

Maurice's niche is for achievements where many are fascinated but we give a warning "do not try this at home"?

That really would be worth watching, but I doubt it would make a viable project as it seems to run foul of the US constitution which prohibits "Cruel and Unusual Punishment". For both of them!

Well said Onmybike.

Happy Christmas and New Year Jon...maybe 2017 will see your questions answered.

Good luck with Project Propellor next year.

Rather than embroiling the "establishment" in yet another controversial award, how about Jay Sata sending Mr Kirk a case of Champagne on his arrival in Cape Town?

Sometimes doing rather than suggesting means so much more...

While I do not wish any ill to befall Kirk, I feel that his antics should be starved of the oxygen of publicity.

Incidentally, those who need to know such things are now well aware of Holloway's intention to raise the topic of an award to Kirk...

Let's keep this to aviation discussion. As my 13 year old daughter says to me "TMI dad, TMI". Too much Information. If a medical discussion is warranted, and maybe it is, there is a forum for that nearby. Please leave names out of a discussion there entirely.

Thanks.

5. transponder stubby aerial/vhf aerial
6. 2x mobility dry cell 12v batteries
7.emergency led nav lights
8.c 90 continental engine or parts there of (may be ok)
9 cub prop (from UK hoped) 10. undercarriage leg/ piece of cabane ( from UK hoped)
11. Galaxy mobile phone
12. 1st Aid kit
13. fuses/electrical wire
14.small venturi
15.Cub J3L4 part of engine cowlings
16. Wing root fairings or parts there
18.Don’s equivalent of ‘get dents out of leading edges’ kit!
19. Any old Garmin GPS
20, a small bubble compass (they pinched both)

For the casual readers here, know that despite MK having drafted what appears to be a very non specific want list, the repair and/or maintenance of a certified airplane requires the parts specified for that aircraft by type, and they must be accompanied with appropriate certification of airworthiness. I'm sure that the person who will be certifying the repair work will be requiring that certification when they review the parts.

Because anyone else on PPRuNe would be trashed for suggesting using non approved, perhaps not correct parts, for aircraft repair!
