My understanding is that Phil left because he was frustrated in not being allowed to get on with his job. Clearly lots of hearsay etc. The LAA is a club which has an elected committee; being an employee of such organisations is a thankless task.

In cases like this I always start with introspection that normally sorts the problem out. On the rare occasion I find a difficult meeting with someone of sound character, it in 99% prob my own making.

I had a private chat with him between his resignation and departure, as I was interested in possibly applying and certainly have the experience and qualifications, and am an LAA member with a passion for GA. Phil came across to me as a capable chap who'd done his best whilst in the job.
Clearly I'm not going into details of a private conversation, but I decided not to apply after that talk.
