Microlight School

Good evening everyone. Just a quick question does anyone know a decent Microlight training school near to Heathrow airport. I currently fly gliders and am looking to convert to Microlight flying and gain a NPPL M. I have tried two schools already the first school messed me around for four months and cancelled every lesson due to not having any instructors. The second school never answers the phone and when they do they say they will call you back but they never do. I would of thought these days the schools would want the money and to give good customer service but clearly not. If any one has any advice or suggestions that would be great. Many Thanks in advance.

Google Membury flying club / Ifly uk. They have excellent instructors and they're just up the M4 at Membury. I did approx. 75% of my NPPL training there & they were excellent.

These chaps are not far from Heathrow, and have a good reputation locally.

Airbourne Aviation at Popham have a fleet of five or six C42 and Eurostar 3 axis microlights and my experience in getting my NPPL with them was great. I think they now have four instructors. And they have a great simulator based on an old C42 cockpit, mounted on hydraulic jacks, remarkably good (don't think of it as a pc game) so you can still fly with an instructor when the weather is bad. Well worth a visit. Home Page - Airbourne Aviation

I suspect the 2 schools you contacted initially won't be in business for very long.....

I don't fly microlights but have heard good reports about Membury. Location/ease of access is obviously important but don't discount travelling a bit further afield to train at a decent school.

Steve Pike is instructing on a Eurostar at Wycombe Air Park I believe. There's also a CTSW share for sale there at the moment - it's a nice aeroplane, and you wouldn't struggle to find an instructor to do your NPPL on it for you.
