Moaraigh if you have Mooney time there is an N reg M20J in Sydney available to rent to the right pilots...you would still need an ASIC to fly to security controlled airports (which are any airports that have even a weekly CAT (RPT as they say in Aus) flight)...
Australia is not interested in making it easy to fly....for anyone....contrasted with the (pre EASA) situation in the UK where any ICAO licence would let you fly a G-reg day VFR....

Albury
Baikonour - if Albury is an option, give Rhena a call at Riverina - highly recommended :-)

Thanks GF - will get in touch with them.
Were originally looking further West (we've travelled around the Bright/Beechworth/Wangaratta area before), but now that you've pointed it out, there seem to be more interesting landscapes to fly over on the East than on the West of the Murray.
OH has already got her wish with the first week, so I can push through my wish for this trip...

ASIC + CoV Update, also EASA ME in Australia
Hi All,
I've just submitted ASIC and CoV applications for my EASA PPL(A). I found this thread useful (thank you!) so I will post the results of those applications here when I get them in case anyone else like me is out there searching and wants latest info (and some hope!). Leaving for Australia in two months' time.
A question I have is whether anyone knows if it is possible to do an EASA multi-engine rating in Australia?
Cheers
Matt

Any ideas for places in Northern Vic/Murray river valley which (a) would be nice to visit and (b) have a local flying community where I could find an aircraft and willing instructor?
