IWM Duxford Bonus Days programme for 2015: discounts for a great flying day out.

Imperial War Museum Duxford must be the premier destination for GA pilots in Europe!

The museum offers a full and fun-packed day out with over 200 historic aircraft on display in fabulous buildings such as AirSpace and the American Air Museum. It is the perfect destination for pilots and all fans of aviation and a real ‘must-see’.

If you keep your eye on the Duxford sky during the flying season, you are likely to see any number of iconic aircraft in flight, including the Spitfire, Hurricane, B-17 Flying Fortress, Catalina and other rare types of aircraft based at IWM Duxford.
28 March Government GA Strategy Event

Bonus Days offer great discounted prices: Single- or twin-engined aircraft can land for £7; museum entry is free on the dates listed below.

Saturday 28th March 2015
Not a Bonus Day, but a fantastic event to drive into or fly:

The next stage of the Government’s plans for General Aviation will be unveiled on Saturday 28th March 2015 when the Government’s strategy for GA is made public at a joint Government / Civil Aviation Authority event at the Imperial War Museum Duxford. Key players in the GA world will be speaking including Grant Shapps MP, Minister without Portfolio; Patrick Ky, EASA Executive Director and Andrew Haines, CAA Chief Executive.

Specialists from NATS will also be in attendance on the day offering advice on a range of GA airspace safety issues and air traffic control in general.
The event is open to anyone involved in GA and will provide an opportunity to hear an update on the Future Airspace Strategy, VFR operations deployment plan and the latest work underway through the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and UK GA programmes.

The event will take place from 10.30am to 3pm. If you wish to attend then please RSVP to [email protected]. There are still some fly-in slots available from around 11.00 onwards – call the Duxford Tower to reserve yours.

17 May Vintage Aircraft Club Bonus Day
Vintage aircraft of all marques and members of the Vintage Aircraft Club come and fly from Duxford’s historic grass, meet your friends and compare aircraft notes.

Aircraft Restoration Company hangar tour – a rare chance to see inside the hangar doors. What have they got inside?

Call the tower to reserve your landing slot and also call Arco ticket line make a (mandatory) advance booking for the tour on 01223 835313.

07 June IWM Duxford Fly-in Bonus Day
A great day for all GA pilots and friends to look around the museum and.....

Duxford Aviation Society will provide tours of the de Havilland Comet, Avro York, Handley Page Hermes and, of course, Concorde – small donation requested, please.

Sarah Hannah will give a presentation about ‘The Old Flying Machine Company’ at 14.30 with the chance to get up close and personal with Spitfire MH434.

Call the Tower to reserve you landing slot, check timings of the tours and to book a place at Sarah’s talk.

01/02 August British Microlight Aircraft Association Bonus Day

BMAA members, friends and guests are welcome to fly in.

Activities will include guided museum tours, Flex-Wing Microlight Flight Simulator as well as the chance to meet old friends and make new ones.

Call BMAA to reserve your landing slot 07796 121523 or email [email protected].


So, please call the tower for information on these events and to reserve your landing slot 01223 833376 (except BMAA – 07796 121523).

Group fly-ins on other days are welcome, but please arrange in advance through the tower.

Just for people who don’t know, I should declare my interest. I’m a casual FISO at Duxford. I’m also a pilot who thinks the place is pretty marvellous.

I quite enjoyed my recent fly in visit to Duxford, and think of it as a special place for aviation enthusiasts. As such, I'm thinking of this information as a "public service".

Probably do the 7 June one. Been to many before. The only problem with Duxford is getting round it all, I could spend all day in the tank bit.
