Looking at the weather down south here. Not good and slow to clear with the fog lifting to low stratus forecast at the mo.
As the aeroplane is short of a few nav. aids at present and the need for a refuel going south, my window is taking on the shape of just a quick cuppa and back home again before dark. Might be too expensive !! Watch this space……………..

I have scrubbed due fog in the south. Weather looks good north of the Humber though. Hope the new owners put it on again in the summer.

With you, sharpend.
Fog still slow to clear, temps. still together and it's the freezing variety.

Hope Mr Makin opens up during the spring/summer when the days are longer. A lot of us trained up there or at Linton. It would be nice to see the places again before they suffer under the plough share. Have a good day, guys.

From way darn sarf………..

According to Flightradar24 a Cirrus has just landed and there are a couple of light aircraft heading in the general direction of Church Fenton.

Sadly it's still 10/10 here with freezing fog :-(

Later in the year with any luck ;-)

Congratulations, PENNINE BOY.

So glad that so many made it, although not many from further south than Leicester I would imagine.
Did the Turweston contingent get in ? Well done if they did.

Anyway, please let us know when you decide to have another fly-in up there.

Can't keep it all to yourself you know !

Being a non-aviating aviation enthusiast I drove down to Church Fenton this morning and had a cracking day with a reported near 200 aircraft movements and on a nice crisp winters day although sheet black ice on the flight-line made staying upright a challenge !

Things seemed to be a bit manic at times with a seemingly crowded sky and the loss of radio cover for a short time probably didn't help although others can comment on that better than I ? Most of the visiting owners I spoke to came from the general Yorkshire area , others from Derbyshire , Lincolnshire and Northumberland and singularly , I think , from Liverpool , Woodvale and even Perth , Scotland , who may well be the furthest travelled on the day ? The flight-lines were very busy , the large ASP soon having two full rows of aircraft before overflowing to the 'spare' 16/34 runway . For the record the first aircraft in was Taylorcraft BC12D G-BTFK .

The new owners the Makin family were out in force and well done to them for not only saving the airfield but hopefully on today's evidence giving it a future too .

2016 Fly-in ?

Another fly-in was planned to take place today , 2 January . I couldn't make it due to work but just wondered if given the recent flooding in that area and a poor weather forecast for today if it has gone ahead ?

2016 Fly-in

Not looking good again for the third attempt ?
I've emailed CF/Leeds East but no reply as yet . Does anyone know the 'word on the street' about the 31st still being on or off ?

From their Facebook page ;

Good Morning All, looking at the weather forecast this morning we are going to have to cancel the flyin again. We are very sorry to cancel but we want it to be a worthwhile and fun day for all...A new date will be set by the end of today.

One wonders why they communicate via FB rather than the major flying forums.
