Church Fenton Fly in

As rumoured there will be a fly in at Church Fenton on the 03/01/15.
The owner is hoping to remove the white crosses. Landing fee £10. Tea and Coffee available. NO I repeat No further info available at this time, so don't ask.
If anyone has any more "CONFIRMED" info please post it.
:ok:

Great news. Hope to make it.
(Going to need a bit more info first though, contact phone numbers at least.)

In my opinion you don't have to remove the Xs if you brief during the PPR that the runway is actually fit for use. This is what the X means:

A white mark in the shape of a St. Andrew’s Cross indicates that that portion of the runway up to the next standard marking is unfit for use by aircraft.

Anyone know any better?

Helicopterdriverguy 22nd Dec 2014 20:33

I'll be there.

Who is the new owner? Any idea what the plans are for the future? It has been mentioned elsewhere that houses were to be built, they could easily be built on the landside/accommodation area.

ak7274 23rd Dec 2014 04:48

I do know who the new owner is, but I was only able to pass on the fly in information.
The new owner is a pilot and intends to carry on flying. I would assume that as he is clearing the white crosses and having a fly in, he intends to keep the airfield open in some capacity.
As this is a rumour network, let's start off by telling you that a noise heard behind a hedge whispered that he may be starting a transatlantic passenger schedule in 1000 seat solar powered kitfoxes.

A pilot owning a Tarmac airfield? I like the sound of that, very unusual in UK. They normally seem to be owned by people with a very different agenda.

Strubby 700m tarmac owned by 6 pilots

Sadly I have to fly at work on 3 Jan otherwise I'd come. Just like to wish all who can go a great day out and best wishes to the owner for the future of his aerodrome.

Happy landings

Looks interesting, wonder if I can get an escape chit, wouldn't mind getting that in the logbook. The weather is looking to warm up considerably by next weekend as well.

The other airfield he owns is at the farm in Garforth..

What's the join? Everyone going for standard overhead?

7of9 29th Dec 2014 15:43

Unless otherwise published I will join overhead at 1500 calling intentions on the Unicom channel then descend dead side as per standard procedure.
Going to assume circuit height will be 1000 QFE.

Hopefully someone on the radio will correct this or advice us on inbound call.

I aim to be there around 10.15am or thereabouts.

:ok:
