Romney Marsh Aero Club
A friend of mine has decided to go for his PPL. He lives in Ashford, so Lydd would be convenient. Having a look at RMAC's website, their rates look competitive. Any feed back please?
There rates are far too low. Of course the owners could be so well off they can afford to lose money.......
Also, a PA28-161 is a Warrior, not an Archer.
Best way is to have a trial lesson with them to see what they're like.
Lastly, don't be tempted to pay up front...............

Very nice club, good people, great airport for training. I do believe that they don't operate the PA28's for training any more, they use the C152, 172 and a Robin.
A great mix of instructors some young and some ex airline. At least 3 of their ex students are EZY F/O's. They are not too cheap they are about the going rate for the south east.
They do not require money up front but you will get a cheaper rate if you buy 500 pound blocks.

Hi rogerbucks,
Your friend would also be well advised to take a look at the Tiger Club at Lashenden/Headcorn.
Long established club with a good reputation.
BP.

Are you referring to Lydd Aero Club? So what website are you referring to? I heard that the Tiger Club has some problems.

Sounds like good business advice Mr Average (good name by the way).

Where I'm training it's £179/hr in the same aircraft, but I know somewhere else, where a friend is based, where it's £129/hr for training in a Cherokee, it's almost worth the 4 hour drive to go down there for a weekend to get another 5 hours in or something!
I've noticed huge disparities in pricing across the country, would be nice if there was a school north of the border that could offer rates like that

Sorry, just noticed, substitute 'their' for 'there'. Does this mean my English Proficiency is downgraded?
More importantly:
Neither the instructors nor the company appear on the list of RTFs or FTOs.
I suggest your friend asks them why this is.
I can wholeheartedly recommend Lydd Aero Club.
