IMCR Renewal
I currently fly an Annex II aircraft so I can retain the CAA licence as long as I want but I'm thinking of renewing/revalidating my IMCR which expired back in the last century. As this will have to be done in an EASA certified aircraft will I be able to do this on my CAA PPL or am I going to have to change to an EASA licence?

The training and/or test does not have to be in an EASA aircraft, although there may be limitations on your aircraft with respect to flight in IMC/IFR.

I'm not allowed to (and wouldn't anyway due to the minimal instrument fit) fly IMC in the Auster as she's on an LAA Permit so it'll have to be done in a flying school aircraft which will be an Annex II aircraft I would assume.

The training is no problem, it just depends whether a flight test for renewal of a non-EASA rating is deemed to be 'under training'
Basic Regulation, Article 7(2)
Except when under training, a person may only act as a pilot if he or she holds a licence and a medical certificate appropriate to the operation to be performed.

PICUS must be Training
Failure in an IMC Test has to be Logged as Pu/t - ie Training
A Pass in an IMC Test could be logged as PICUS.
PICUS must also count as Training, otherwise how could an
unlicensed candidate record their succesful PPL Skill Test as such?
I await to be corrected but a PASS in a Flight Test doesn't have to
be recorded as PICUS - there is no reason not to record it as Pu/t
if so wished.
