they are girly girls who have the nice outdoor side you can sometimes tease out of them. I have now got a reputation at the club for being the ladys man and i think i hold the record of getting 3 ladies through the door into the hangar and airborne with out them taking one look at the 172 asking where the loos and bar is then running away never to be seen again. I love a challenge and next is 3 girls thru the door airborne and maybe sporting cabin crew outfits? maybe im pushing my luck now. Sunday dinner at kirkbride is defo a winner for the ladies routing over the lakes district and you earn loads of good boy points.

anyhow back to the original question after some debate i have been firmly informed B n Bs unless i can promise nice weather.....

I thought most blokes who become pilots do it for the thrill of flying, a commercial career and the ladies....

What tactic for this trip?

Attempt all three with the risk of scaring all off...

... Or aim for the hottest and shotgun the tent/room with her?

Don't worry I won't tell!!

You only get pictures if you're a helicopter pilot:

Hi, would recommend hammok and tarpaulin instead of tent... better insulation from ground and no prob if good four seasons sleeping bag. And more romantic. Plus, it allows some very interesting 3 dimensional "acrobatics"....

Just don't pretend to "run out of gas" far from a possible LS, could be embarrassing... Enjoy.

LOL this is a great thread, I honestly have no ideia how you can persuade ladies about camping in those conditions, I sure don´t want to be in that cockpit on the last days, It must be a great smell I reckon
But on a more serious note, please keep us updated on that trip, if, you´re still willing to.

Mate, do mention Stiletto's and A/C don't mix. do mention the lack of on board toilets and the at least 15-20 minutes it will take you to get to one if the call occurs (that's if your nearly on top of the airfield) If your flying a PA28 the floor vents and skirts don't mix, even if the lady is nice enough to be wearing knickers. Yes all of the above has happened to me or my lady passengers, i prefer to take them up than blokes as they are way more fun! and usually don't ask me to "do some tricks" which in a tommie or archer is pretty limiting. altho the wing drop stall in a tommie has reduced the odd macho man to tears. good luck, have fun FK!

One of the ladies asked me what color the plane was so she can colour coordinate her underwear and dress And if she can wear heels or would they pop the inflatable slide? Her expectations of a c172 are maybe a bit high. I preflight brief all the females or passengers for that matter that toilets are located at either end of the flight, strictly no smoking on board and anything smoking should be reported to me straight away. I shall keep you updated on this trip and bring back pictures....
And excellent idea sir i haven't slept in the hammock since last summer! Much smaller and lighter then packing a tent. Park up near 2 trees and use the wing for shelter.

Word of advice: Don't.

Your sleeping bag (I hope you have a good one) provides insulation from the ground/outside air/whatever through a fluffy layer of down or synthetic material which traps insulating air (duh!). Wherever your body weight is transferred to whatever you're sleeping on, this fluffy material will be compressed to next to nothing and will lose almost all of its insulating value.

In a hammock all you are then left with for insulation is the hammock fabric itself. Which provides exactly zero insulation. In a tent, you can use a good sleeping mattress which (through the internal air pressure) will not be compressed to zero thickness, and the foam/air inside will provide insulation. But only very few hammocks have a decent below-fabric insulation solution (here's one: Hennessy Hammock) and using a normal camping mattress in a hammock simply doesn't work.

Add to that the general improbability of finding a place at an airfield where you can hang up not one, but possibly up to four hammocks and you're going to be in for a bad experience.

If this is your first time camping in winter, stick to known solutions (tent, mattress and sleeping bag). Only start experimenting when you have a little more experience, and a backup plan. I've been camping in winter for over 20 years now, and still prefer a tent over everything despite the weight issue - and we carry the stuff on our back the whole day.

I had a fair bit of winter camping and biving experience. I have a descent sleeping bag and would jump into a bivi bag to for a night or two in a hammock. The combination of hammock, sleeping bag, bivi bag and a few beers is usually spectacular and since the last incident i now only hammock over soft ground. Its going to end up a b n b trip with a camping trip planned for later on if we ever get a uk summer. There is nothing better then rocking up at a busy airfield with a wicker basket picnic and 3 ladies. Girls love the whole flying scene its all in the set up

Tomtytom, you've been watching "Out of Africa" once more last night???? Hope your Meryl Streeps do not suffer air-sickness, might be less romantic. Do not forget before T.Off to spend a few minutes on Ray Mears site and brush up your "bush" craft skills, you might need it, three Angels is a hell of a job to satisfy and you have to be "up" to it... HaHaHa!!!! Gaellic humour...

Anyway, tell your lady friends, heli pilots are more fun... and a "chopper" more practical for tarpaulin setting, just throw a few skirts or dresses over a blade and....

AIE! HAIE!... my wife is reading over my shoulders... had not heard her coming, busy dreaming I was You... 20 and three beautiful pax... Enjoy

God you are such a sexist lot, lol.

Of course you can fly in stillettos........bit of a pain getting in a low wing though.....no trouble at all in a C150/C152/C337 Must say did get a funny look from the fireman this summer when I got out of the C150 I'd taxied over to fuel up at EGBJ in flip-flops! Wasn't going flying though just fuelling up for the next day to say time. But have flown in a skirt (Lancair 350) last year in Sweden.

Fly them down to Sywell....there's a nice Art Deco B&B on the airfield. Now that would increase your "rating" with the girls!

Make sure you enter Sywell in your Garmin and not Sizewell (Suffolk), much less romantic... mind you, you could then try a beach landing nearby... Kessingland is a bit bumpy but I would gladly give your 3 pax an ankle massage if they fall in a rabbit hole, I live nearby... and have a first aid certificate. Lots of beetroot fields in case of engine failure and a few seals to observe... God you do get my imagination firing.... spring is nearing...

Sywell is officially on the list of places to visit now Jude

Problems with stilettos and legs is the distraction. And dont have a garmin yet. Hoping i can get one for my 21st

And im not sexist i have a feminine side!!! ..... i keep her in a cage

I know people take piss out of pilot shirts and black ties but making a effort to look smart, bit of red carpet up to the C172, Champagne on arrival distracts from all the battered up school planes in the hangar goes a long way. Chicks love being whisked away into the sky. Quote Monty Python
"treat you kite like your women! Get in her 5 times a day and take her to heaven and back!"

Recently passed night rating so going to do some sun set flying with my special girl and woo her once new license comes through.

Excited a good days flying gets you in the good boy book for a whole 2-3 days!

Lord Flasheart, not Monty Python

I've normally got at least 14 girls (of both sexes) in the aircraft, so relish the opportunities that I get to fly solo

Sorry Jude, stilettos'and wing walks don't mix... especially if they leave a dent in the skin! (note anybody from my flying club it was already there, she just made it bigger ahem) Of course you being in the left seat means you know where to step...

Also that stretch from the wing walk to the "step'' on a PA28 is a long one and most shorties (blokes included) need a wee hand so as not to step on the flap. Did you mention what Aircraft you were flying? sorry i have a low wing bias

And try an leave the pax briefing on the light side... most of the comments i got round the coffee machine next week at work was... "änd then he said if we need to crash the door opened like this and showed me an axe and a fire extinguisher!!"

Most people never hear "in the unlikely event we need to make an emergency landing" they just hear "Crash"

also get ready for all to laugh when you start it with a key, one of my lady mates was still laughing after i did my run up checks...

I'm flying to an airshow next weekend with some lady friends... landing in front of 15,000 people... no pressure

This thread reminds me of my best flight I ever did. It was a pre-checkride for a seaplane rating with a lady-instructor who was a Beaver pilot. Normally I had a different instructor so it was my first flight with her and for me the first flight ever with a female onboard (it was right after my PPL). She was just a little older than I so I gave everything I had. I showed her all the takeoffs and landings I learned including a step taxi-180°turn-takeoff. Everything was perfect - she was impressed by my confident flying after just 5 hours instruction so the next day I went for the FAA check. Over-confident about my hero-skills I performed bad. During de-briefing the examiner told me that during the 360° he almost fell out of the aeroplane. It was the worst flight I ever did.

Now where's the link to the thread? Well, I think I would build some WOB (women on board) time first. After 10h with one I would go for the second and after 20 hours I could probably go for the third. At least, I would keep an eye on my mucho-attitude.
