flying with females
 

I have convinced 3 ladies to come flying in a month or 2. Plan is to take 3 days flying round the south of UK camping under the wing each night in a tent. Any ideas on how to pursued them to spend 2 nights in a tent? I can blag no hair dryer/straighteners etc for w + b issues which is also another political nightmare :/

I would say that you have absolutely nil chance however persuasive you are on the tent/camping issue. Feb/March in the UK is still cold.

Why not fly to some rural airfields with nearby b+b's.

The nearest you would get any femail I know to camping at tis time of year would be a travelodge.

I think b n b option might have to do. Iv always fancied camping under the wing tho then flying somewhere else next morning. I know for sure that one of them would be fine camping as long as shes kept warm dry and happy on the vino. And i always try to fill every seat when i do go up flying. I can see it now them all turning up with 25kg of hold all luggage each plus hand luggage plus handbags.

Just remember your performance will be critical, and under examination.......

Huh? That's just a matter of having the right gear. A good sleeping bag and a good insulating mattress (e.g. Thermarest) is critical.

I just returned from hiking the Yorkshire Dales, between Christmas and New Years. Spent four nights in tents, one in a B&B (because we had to catch an early flight the next day). Five males, one female - but she's the type that doesn't need a hairdryer.

The last day we were up on some moor and fine hail was blowing by horizontally. Fortunate we had a quartering tailwind so it was not directly in our faces. With the right gear none of us was cold or anything, so all in all a great time.

Having the right gear does imply mummy-type sleeping bags. They're great for insulation but sort of prevent the initiation in whatever mile high club you intend to join, if you get my drift, though.:E

As you mentioned, weight and balance is critical!

But may I suggest you include Shenington Gliding Club on your itenerary? It is 7 nautical miles northwest of Banbury. There is always somebody there who would welcome you, PPR can be accomplished by phoning 01295 688121, or email me a couple of days in advance. There is a clubhouse with showers, loos, BBQs, and sleeping under the wing would raise no eyebrows if that is your plan. And there is a bar, of course.

Just remember that wire launching of gliders takes place, any day weather permitting, and probably even if you radio, nobody will answer, so you must be switched on to observing the runway in use, whether cables are on the ground, or gliders about to launch or to land.

I was lucky enough to have 3 females accompany me on a flight to Italy and back in a PA28 a couple of years ago. We had weather diversions requiring overnight stays both outbound and back, and both B&B's used only had 2 rooms available. The girls drew straws to see who got to share with me :ok:. However they would never say whether the girls with the short straws were considered winners or losers :O

this time last year I was in the dog house because I flew and camped at the microlight Icicle event without a certain lady of my acquaintance. Just to clarify, the Icicle event is pencilled in for the first weekend in January and is only held if the forecast is for sub zero temperatures on the Saturday night. If the forecast doesn't predict freezing conditions the event is moved back a week at a time until a sub zero weekend occurs.

It has now slipped out to 19th January, I have two sleeping bags,the small tent and the warm lady ready and waiting...... bring it on.

That's my kind of event. Now all I need is a microlight and the courage to cross the North Sea (or Channel) in a microlight in winter.

Its worse when im not flying!

I make a point of not letting passengers have a influence over my flying. A few weeks back i took 3 ladies up to kirkbride for sunday dinner. On finals i was to high so decided for a early go around. They all made some interesting noises.
I convinced them that the left rudder was the brake and the right pedal made you go faster :)

The problem with the fairer sex is that they are great to look at ! Curvy soft and sexy but all end up as a load of trouble! So you want to take 3 loads of trouble flying ?

The first time I took her indoors up she asked where was the gearlever. :ugh:

The university fell walking club was around 50/50, and cold weather didn't seem to deter anybody in it from camping whether male or female. That said, it was a self-selecting group and my feeling would be that if your guests haven't already suggested that February camping is their idea of a fun way to spend a weekend, then it's probably not for them. Why persuade people into something that they probably won't enjoy?

If they are indeed girlie girls who like their home comforts, then B&B is indeed the best option!!

However, if they are like me, love flying and don't mind roughing it occasionally (two nights is hardly a major hardship), then go for it. Any female who has half a sense of adventure will not mind forgoing her hairdryer for a day, make up, mirror, straighteners and whatever other paraphanalia she needs!

Anyway, i'm sure you'll be very popular, not many chaps can offer a girl a free flight in a light aircraft...... Put it this way, a date in the Local or three days flying over beautiful scenery at 2,500ft...well, for me at any rate that is a no brainer...but thats maybe co i'm a tad biassed being a female pilot (well, ok, student pilot then!) ;)
