Eastbach Farm Accident

The local newspaper in Hereford reports an accident at or near Eastbach Farm on the 27th July, when an aircraft (type not identified) crashed and caught fire whilst attempting to land. Two occupants escaped from aircraft, one airlifted to hospital with serious head and back injuries.

Does anyone have practical experience of using this airfield please? Just interested to know how "challenging" it might be.

I hope the aircraft occupants are recovering from their injuries.

I've been in with a Cub several times. Landing uphill, irrespective of the wind, makes it a tad entertaining, but it's absolutley fine for a taildragger or microlight.

I wouldn't do it with a spamcan, neither would the 15 000+ hr instructor I was talking to this morning about it....

Because both runways are on hillsides (different sides of the same hill) there are some wind directions which I would be wary of.

One of the most beautiful locations I have had the pleasure of arriving at by aircraft.

Just noticed the piece on the front page of the local free newspaper entitled "Pair Unhurt in Air Crash", and then goes on to say "a man in his 60s and a woman in her 40s managed to escape from the wreckage despite being injured."
"The man was treated at the scene for serious head and back injuries and airlifted to Gloucester Royal Hospital for further treatment"...etc

Dont these local journo's actually proof read what they have written? "Unhurt" ?

The story I usually hear is that the journos actually get it right but the subs then screw up the headlines, on account of they CBA to actually read the stories.

Well, that's what the journos say anyway, one doesn't normally get to talk to the subs

I took an SF25c motor glider in and made several flights during the day. Certainly a challenging strip.
