SEP Revalidation
hi all, I know this thread has been done to death here BUT answer me this.
I have decided to revalidate my SEP rating by experience in my 2nd year, I currently have the below:
6 hours solo P1
1 hours PUT with an instructor, started my night rating recently. So I have the instructional hour covered yeah!???
So what can the remain 5 be...of course I could fly more P1 to make up the 12 hour min...BUT CAN I use more PUT instruction..ie: the rest of my Night rating to add to my 12 hour min, if not..what else can i use other than more P1 solo time...
Have trawled loads of threads and even looked at CAA LASORS..but its all as clear as MUD.

Yes. 12 hours, including at-least 6 hours PiC (doesn't have to be solo) and 1 hour (which must be continuous, not in chunks) with an instructor. The other 5 hours can basically be anything loggable.
Your night rating is fine.
I used instruction towards my CPL one year.

even looked at CAA LASORS
But anyway, you seem to be focused on a revalidation by experience. Fine, but if you still need to fly five hours or more, somehow, it might be a lot cheaper to revalidate by test.
There is no minimum duration for such a test, although it'll typically take about an hour anyway. Furthermore, you need to fly with an examiner instead of an instructor. But examiners will not be that hard to find, and are not a lot more expensive than instructors.
And to revalidate by test there is no minimum experience requirements. Even if you haven't flown at all in the last two years, all that's required is that you pass the test. So you don't need to do any further hour-building but you can take the test straight away.

Another quick question on this topic. My SEP rating is due for renewal in October. I am fine with regards to experience because I have done my FAA Commercial licence this year and have plenty of PIC time and take-offs / landings.
With regards to the 1 hour with an instructor, LASORS says the following;
The instructor must be authorised in accordance with JAR-FCL to instruct for the JAR-FCL TMG or SEP(Land) rating as appropriate
I have a UK CAA PPL but it doesn't seem to specifically say that I have to use an instructor in the UK. Does this mean that I am free to get the 1 hour from a JAR qualified instructor in any country (e.g. Ireland or Sweden)?
Thanks,
HF

HF, that is correct.
I have a UK-issued JAR-FCL PPL(A) but I live in the Netherlands. All my instructional hours, examiner signatures and so forth, required for license/class rating renewal are therefore done by Dutch JAR-FCL licensed instructors/examiners. No problem whatsoever.
The only thing I make sure of, is when any examiner signs any paperwork (such as the C/R renewal pages and CAA forms), I make a copy of that examiners paperwork (examiners authorization) and send that along.

Thanks BackPacker. That makes life a little easier at least. Good advice also on getting a copy of the instructors/examiners details. I will make sure to do that.

Backpacker, What exactly makes you think I didnt look at LASORS first? I appreciate you input but please dont jump to conclusions based on a mere sentence I wrote.
