Getting a PPL is not a race. As said above, a lot depends on how you learn things, how much time/money you have to commit to the process, and ultimately, the reason for doing it in the first place.

As FANS said

If you goal is simply to get the PPL (rather than commercial) then do it over time AND ENJOY THE LEARNING AND EXPERIENCE.
If a PPL for fun is your ultimate goal, then remember that the journey is equally as important as the destination.

I'd agree with Flyinkiwi and FANS. If you are not intending to be a commercial pilot, take time so you can absorb information and listen (with a slight pinch of salt) to other pilots.

You might be better having lessons closer together at certain times - perhaps the final build up to going solo and preparing for your Qualifying Cross Country.

But there is no need to put yourself under great pressure - it is for your hobby which should be pleasurable.

Since you live in West Sussex, Redhill and Headcorn/Lashenden in particlar come to mind. I liked Lashenden alot, and would have gone there myself had I not lived too far away.
Neoburner, I think you will find Headcorn a tad too far from Horsham. I instruct at Redhill which is about the same distance as Shoreham, but you could also consider Goodwood which is only a slightly longer drive.

I have PM'd you.

Due to extreme bad luck with the weather, two schools going bust, full time job and funds, it took me around two years to finish off my PPL.
It seemed at the time everyone was completing it in a few months.
As everyone else says, enjoy it and don't worry how long it's taking.
If you can, try and go for a couple of flights with a PPL pilot, they are usually glad of the company and, if you take your charts, it can help you out with your nav.

Have to admit, would still like to take the CPL route myself...well, there's no harm in dreaming...
