PPL finished

Hi Guys
Today I finished my PPL after 140 hours breaking my flying school record of 102 hours but does this mean i am crappiest pilot i know i am not natural pilot.Does this mean i shouldn't take my family with me. Despite my pass today i am bit sad that it took me 140 two and half time more than average.What are your thought on my issue

Off course it does not mean you are the worst pilot in the world.
If an flight examiner passed you it means he is happy that you are competent to fly the aircraft under the limitations that are granted of the PPL. Go flying with other pilots first and get some confidence and then take family

IMHO the question is not so much how many flying hours you have collected before passing your PPL exam but rather whether you feel sufficiently at ease now. When even in the slightest doubt, I would recommend making some flights with a more experienced fellow pilot to gain some additional non-lesson practice first, before taking your loved ones up in the air.

140 hours over what time period? I don't personally think that the number of hours it takes is any indication of skill or competence level. Also were you learning in a foreign language?

I remember when I passed my driving test. I had done 20 hours learning and was probably the most dangerous guy on the road after I passed the test! My sistser did about 70 hours learning and after she passed I went for a ride with her and I was surpised how safe and competent she was. The major factor that influenced her to take more training was a lack of confidence. I don't know if a lack of confidence may apply to you, but if it does don't be surpised if when you fly with other pilots that they comment on how well you fly!

Well done matters not how many hours you did but that you have your licence enjoy and well done - I heard last week of a heli student that went solo after 90 hrs at £300 ph ! I take my hat off to him, think my Wife would have stopped me long before that !

Excellent advice. Simply bum a ride with more experienced pilots. You know how you fly, and can compare it to their flying ability. That will give you an excellent idea on how good or bad you really are. And you get to see some good and bad examples.

Next, take a few pilots with you while you fly as PIC, and let them honestly (but nicely) critique your flying. You will probably find you're not as bad as you thought.

Only then take non-pilot passengers.

Congratulations on acheiving your PPL goal, as others have stated, don't worry about how long it took you.
Just keep the wise words of Jason Schappert in mind whenever you take to the skies (Jason is well respected CFI over in Florida)

My thoughts are that you have reached the pass standard of a PPL.

If you can stay at that standard, then you'll stay at a standard well above the average of most PPLs. If you can manage even the slowest level of continuous improvement, you'll pull even further ahead of them.

You've achieved something to be proud of - that you took a lot of hours to get there is more a testament to your determination than anything else. If you use that determination to stay at this high standard of achievement, you'll stay a safe pilot.
