140 hours over what time period? I don't personally think that the number of hours it takes is any indication of skill or competence level. Also were you learning in a foreign language?

I remember when I passed my driving test. I had done 20 hours learning and was probably the most dangerous guy on the road after I passed the test! My sistser did about 70 hours learning and after she passed I went for a ride with her and I was surpised how safe and competent she was. The major factor that influenced her to take more training was a lack of confidence. I don't know if a lack of confidence may apply to you, but if it does don't be surpised if when you fly with other pilots that they comment on how well you fly!
