Nearest supermarket.

Being a Brit living in Belgium, I still miss things from the mother country. These include, but are not limited to items such as Pears soap, HZ Beans (yes you can get HZ beans in Belgy, but its a differant flavour) & of course Bovril!!
There is an English Shop somewhere in Brussels, but that would be too easy.
So the question. What S.E. airfield is within a VERY SHORT taxi ride to one of the "big supermarket chains" mega shops?
Grass or hard but 800mtr long. Coastal or inland. Must have approval to recieve flights from France or be a nominated airfield with permission available via my application (or what ever you do these days!) I will come from the direction of Calais.
I look forward to your suggestions.

Southend Airport is a mile or two from a large, 24 hour Tesco - I would imagine it's pretty easy to catch a bus there.

Blackbushe is five miles from a huge Tesco (Lord forgive me) and Marks and Spencer, so you can stock up on underpants and Christmas sweaters at the same time.

Could you shop on-line and arrange delivery to the airport of your choice? Most on-line shops now offer a one or two hour delivery slot, you only have to be there...

Sandown (Isle of Wight) has 900m (grass) runway and a Morrisons Supermarket a short walk away. 'tis also a pleasant place to visit, nice cafe, walk to the beach etc.

Hi Jumbo

Dunno about satisfying you final criterion (approvals etc), but Channel Gliding Club near Whitfield, Dover, might do the trick. It's at Waldershare Park, 2 miles or so from Whitfield Tesco megamart, and is about 1100 m long. Check out www.channelglidingclub.com for contact details.

Cheers
