Landing Fees

Before you moan about British landing fees, remember, it could be worse In the last few weeks I have visited:

Seppe: Small, quiet, tarmac field. 34 Euro including the "Sunday Surcharge".
Hilversum: Small grass field. ~25 Euro.
Lelystad: Mid-size tarmac field. 39 Euro.

To be fair to them, these airfields are all well kept with good restaurants on site, and seem active and thriving.

Our home base, Rotterdam, is comparatively reasonable given that its a big airport. 18 Euro per landing for us based aircraft.

Oh how I long for wonderful UK landing fees; appreciate them!

Unfortunately The Netherlands is very expensive on fuel and landing fees.

Why not go to Belgium or Germany?

In Grefrath (unpaved), just across the border at Venlo, I paid 6 euro for a landing with a C172.

At Koblenz (paved) I paid 8 euro

At Balen-Keihevel (unpaved) in Belgium the fees are EUR2,50

I paid £41 for the pleasure of landing at Durham tees valley recently, bloody daylight robbery!

Some cheap fields around, but some very expensive airports too!

Come visit in Canada. We'll fly around, and perhaps find an airport with a landing fee - I know there are a few!

In all seriousness, some midsized "government" airports adopted modest (or by your standard, dirt cheap) landing fees. A few smaller airports tried to enact alnding fees, but pilots stayed away in droves, and fuel sales dropped off. Landing fees seem to be rare for the smallest airports in Canada...

Mr Veenstra, are you sure about those 2,50 € at EBKH? ISTR paying 5, double of your figure, yet very affordable. Same 5 €applies at my homefield of Hoevenen EBHN.
OTOH I heard of very expensive fees at EHMZ Midden-Zeeland, too.

To be fair to Hilversum I went back this Monday, and it was only 16 Euros. I have found some great places in Germany, France etc, with only a few euros for fees; but when you're paying 240 Euros an hour for a rather bog-standard PA28, the extra distance sure adds up as well
