Kemble accident?

Does anyone have news of the circumstances surrounding the death of one of the Kemble firemen this week?
Not mentioned on any form of local news, but story from other pilots say it was as a result of some sort of accident.

Checking news feeds doesn't bring anything up. I know this is a rumour forum so no criticism for posting, but it looks like either it didn't happen or it's being kept low key.

From: ROYAL AIR FORCE* &** DEFENCE FIR

(Brian Ford)

I Have just heard from Ron Brown that EX WO "Smoky" Fairhurst passed away last week. Sadly, I have no details of funeral arrangements etc.

Smoky was a much liked and well respected Fireman - truly one of the old school. Many of us had reasons to be grateful to him. He was a flamboyant character with a tremendous sense of humour. I for one will miss those "mutton chops" at the reunions.

Talking of firemen, this gentleman is part of my wife's extended family. We're all rather proud of him.

AN RAF firefighter who risked his life to tackle a blaze in Afghanistan has been awarded the Queen's Gallantry Medal.

I'm afraid it's true

The Fire Services Manager at Cotswold Airport, Steve Mills, was killed in an accident at Kemble on Friday. Local RUMOUR has it that if was testing some new kit and there was an explosion. 2 local fire crews attended (Tetbury and Ciren), but not Malmesbury as if was a retained firefighter on the Malmesbury crew.
Malmesbury has lost a good friend.

Condolences to his family and friends and apologies for my 'good news' thread which I posted just before confirmation of Steve Mill's death when the story looked like a rumour.

RIP Steve

I was so shocked to hear the news today about Steve, I worked at Kemble a few years back and had known Steve there, such a lovely young man. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
