Flaps Podcast - April 2011

The latest edition of Flaps Podcast is now available.

As ever it's available at our website: www.flapspodcast.com and also on iTunes - search for Flaps Podcast.

If you don't want to leave pprune click here to download the latest edition without visiting our site.

Last week we had some good news: we were nominated for a Sony Radio Award. These are the UK's most highly-regarded awards for radio and often called the "Radio Oscars".

Apart from being pleasing for Elliott and myself, I reckon it's also good for GA and because it exposes what we do to a wider audience. These are the awards that you often hear Chris Moyles, Classic FM or the Today programme being recognised for.

Anyway, in this April edition of Flaps: We speak to the CAA about the Olympic airspace restrictions for 2012. Celebrity pilot is former Radio One DJ Mike Smith, who now runs FlyingTV - a highly successful aerial filming company. It's a really interesting interview.

We speak to the oldest pilot we've yet featured on the podcast, Margaret Frost - she flew Spitfires (among other types) during the war; we also speak to the youngest pilot in the UK, who obviously can't go solo or even log his hours, as he's just 12 years old. And our regular commentator Pablo Mason wonders how big the RAF should be.

If you've not heard one before, jump in! If you have and haven't liked it - give us a chance - you might come round! And if you're a regular, well, you know what to do.

I know we've taken our time to get this one out. We've been really busy and work had to come first. However I expect the next one will be next month - most of it is already recorded.

And if you're so-minded you can read more about the awards here.

Thanks all

Mark

(Supposed to be on a week's holiday!)

Glad you're enjoying them! I expect that Pet PPL Karl will be in the next edition. He's doing ok and has been doing some solo nav work.

We'll also be speaking to NATS and the SkyDemon people about SkyDemonLight - so if anyone has any questions you want putting to them then reply or PM me.

We're recording it all this coming week.

Mark
